AMZN -different prices

This is not the first time it happens
I have 2 AMZN accounts, last night I was searching for file folders, and I saw some I would like to order, then I remember I have some AMZN credit with the other account,so I signed off and signed on with the other account,so I can use the credit .
But when I searched for file folders,it gave me similar listings but at a higher price.
Niether account is prime account,so I would be paying shipping if the order is under $35,it should not make any difference to AMZN.
This is not the first time it happens, last time I was looking for a letter opener, one account is prime and one is not ,the prime account shows a higher price with free shipping?
Is this a game AMZN is playing ??
I am going to try it again tonight and see what happens?

Re: AMZN -different prices

The same exact ASIN?
Is this sold by AMZ?
If this is sold by merchant, on my side there is no way for me to have a higher price for different "users".
Maybe it's shipping or something?

highly unlikely that it can be connected solely to shipping

Re: AMZN -different prices

I had a thought, maybe one account is seeing the b2b price, and the other is seeing the general consumer price?

Otherwise, it doesn't really make any sense to me if the delivery address is the same and neither are prime, and its the same item.

I will try again this weekend and note the ASIN.

Very interesting - looking forward to update...I wonder if the price was triggered as higher due to your unused credit...trying to claw at the balance hmm

That has wild implications though.
Like if it's my brand and product and amazon is adding an addition to the checkout price, not just fees.
Probably not illegal, but suuuuper shady.

eh? They shouldn't be able to add any extra fees to anyone.

What they are known to do is steal someone's product and make their own version of it then sell that at a discount

Agreed on the fees. If they want to charge the seller on the backend, that sucks but sure.

If they want to steal a product, sure, that's what 90% of people do anyways.

But adding a fee to the sale price, you're right, that shouldn't be a thing if it is.

Are you talking about the so called processing or online fee that's like a couple of cents on top of the tax?

Nothing to see here....

OP has simply looked at different ASIN's 'recommended' to different buyers.

If they search by ASIN the price will be the same unless, as someone mentioned above, one is a business buyer account.

I did not bother to pursue this issue further and placed an order of multiple items yesterday including the file folders.
If someone is looking to buy a product the first time,he is not going to know the ASIN to compare prices,he relies on AMZN to show him a list from lowest price to highest price.
Both AMZN accounts can buy and sell, just ordinary accounts selling some books and buying some household items for personal use .
I also search on Ebay and find similar items with free shipping, prices are slightly lower, but shipping of course will be slow as they do not have warehouse nearby my home !

Nice clarification - that makes more sense

Yeah, if they are different ASIN's then this is a conversation that doesn't need to happen.

Then my question is why the same search request results in different ASIN with different prices when I ask for the lowest price ?

Re: AMZN -different prices

It happened to me about 2 months ago. The price difference was small 2 quid max and didn't think too much and made the purchase. In my case I had 2 prime accounts and the product I purchased was around 400 quid. What was the price gap for your product ?

Papyrusman 03-16-2025 05:18 PM

Re: AMZN -different prices

You may be seeing the promoted listings first, also people use price changing software.
So I guess at any one time it really depends who is the most aggressive price wise and whose offer has spent the most in ads.

Re: AMZN -different prices

Based on experience I have noticed that products that are sold and shipped by AMZ slightly drop in price when one of the products is selling so the next one to sell will be slightly cheaper than the previous one sold.

first search is $16.95 and the second search under a different buyer ID IS is $19.95.

THEN it would not be fair to the first buyer?
