Amazon Frustrations

I sell music memorabilia. Basically I mount music CD’s and the relevant artwork for display purposes.

I started listing items on Amazon, started with Oasis, which all listed find then I tried Eminem, received a message that I would have to apply to use this brand name?!

All of my Cd’s are original Cd’s purchased by me, I don’t have receipts?

I have over 600 of these displays I need to list, surely I don’t have to register each brand such as Madonna, Kings Of Leon, Coldplay etc? I notice that there are thousands of listings for these artists.

I have been told just to use album name and put band name Coldplay for instance in the bullet lists and description? Is this good advice?

I make them all handmade would this be a better platform for me?

Any advice appreciated

Re: Amazon Frustrations

it is better to do it on etsy and ebay

if you want to know how legal it is then read the small text on back cover and the cd , you will find "all rights reserved" , this means that you would need permission to alter any parts of it

Hmmmm..... I think your product would be better offered on eBay than Amazon, Amazon isn't very flexible about things like this.

Also with all the "brand" names that you're dealing with I think it'd be rather tricky on amazon

Have you heard back yet?

I don't think it's supposed to take this long in this season.

Approved, but still requesting brand name. Might have to register one for £170

If you have a continuous supply, might be worth it for that $175 to get the access you want.
If this is a one ****, I'd hold off.

True - proper price to pay if it's a long run of products

Brand name you mean you got a patent for brand registry?

this is a typical hurdle. Amazon brand gating is difficult, particularly in entertainment and music. Without invoices from approved distributors, approvals for prominent artists like Madonna or Eminem are virtually out of the question. That's why so many sellers cut corners with generic titles, but it's not a good idea if Amazon suspects you're circumventing brand limitations they can suspend you.
