Quick Question....Do you know the ANSWER?

Hi Guys,
Happy NEW YEAR!! I hope 2010 is good for you all. May all your ebay/amazon accounts be spilling over with cash!

Anyway, back to the question:-

AMAZON now ask for shipping info in the UK and I think this is same in US.
Do you think they may track this info?
I mean, if they keep seeing blocked / suspended users using the same Post Office would this raise alarms?
I know this is paranoid :tears: especially for 1.1.2010 but whats your thoughts?
Thanks:help:

GreenBean 01-01-2010 04:07 AM

Yep,it's paranoid. But it would also be stoopid to use the same post office. UK ain't that big that there's not a sub post office or one that could be used as a 'clean' despatch place :peace:

captainjack1980 01-01-2010 04:12 AM

At the rate they close em it won't be long before there will only be one post office serving the entire UK and its dominions:)

in the US, you can leave the trackingnumber field blank......

it works for me.....

Recherché 01-02-2010 09:35 PM

All my items ship from same post office/zip code with tracking info. I've been doing this for all my previous and recent accounts. The only thing I do differently is having a different address for each account and ship from that address (well not actually ship from that address, just what is in the return address on shipping label). I then put my actual address on all invoices just in case customer needs to send back. Not sure if this is advisable, but I'd have to take public transportation to send from different post office every time an account gets suspended. Not going to happen.

What's the point of putting a return address that isn't yours, but including your address on the invoice..it's like you don't care if you loose it in the mail, but you want them to be able to return it to you, and you are worried about somebody seeing the address on the label, but if they open it up they still have your address..makes no sense

aspkin 01-03-2010 08:32 PM

Lol, maybe some extra protection on the return address superstealth?

Go all the way or nothing at all, huh? :)

superstealth 01-03-2010 08:45 PM

either no return address, invoice or returns at all, or put it on the label. If somebody wants a return just give them the money back and tell them to keep it.

The only other problem remaining is where/how cash/credit/online you purchase your postage and if you feel like having a delivery confirmation scan on it. I haven't gotten to that paranoid yet but I can easily see it coming

dennisjaneway 01-03-2010 09:17 PM

are you sure, amazon dont check the fingerprints on the package ?????

:)

when a costumer wants a return, i give also my PO Box Number, and thats ok for them.......never had a problem with that.

i've prepared myself for fingerprints and a hairnet, haven't used it yet.

and if you're going to give out your return address to somebody, it might as well be on the shipping label to also protect if it gets lost, I guess it could help against somebody checking where you send from, but if somebody wants to know who you are they are just going to say they want to return it..and I doubt a PO box will offer you that much privacy if they are trying to figure out who you are, depends who it is

Recherché 01-04-2010 04:17 PM

I care not so much the inventory as I do tell them to keep it if they want a return (the mark-ups more than make up for it from others sold). I would just prefer to use a different address on shipping label for every account to go that little extra mile for amazon not (hopefully) to somehow link it to other current/suspended account addresses. A bit paranoid? Perhaps. But for my own piece of mind (somewhat).

The actual address I include in invoice is for those exceedingly few who return items without giving me prior warning. They just send it back. That way I can immediately credit them for order. Never had customer mail to return address on shipping label. Always from address on invoice. Works great for me.

superstealth 01-04-2010 05:15 PM

I guess I don't see how you think Amazon is going to see your return address on the shipping label. I thought you were worried about the customer knowing who you were, there are competitors, etc (won't get into details) that would like to know your address. So if it's one of them, then they now have your address on the invoice, except now your not protected if it gets undelivered and returned to you. So I don't see the point of putting a phony return address on the label, amz isn't reaching into the mail and pulling out your packages to compare the labels

ovidiu 01-04-2010 07:39 PM

And customers cannot access your address, period, thru their Amazon account. Maybe during an A to Z claim, but it's been so long that I don't remember. The only address they get is the return address on your label.

I need to get out more! :boink:

Thanks Guys for the info and the banter. 2010 is going to be a testing year. I can feel a storm coming :)
In the UK, customers dont see the shipping address, unless you put this in with the goods sold. So, I will opt not to put it in. Then if a competitor / customer does want to return I can decide what to do after reviewing the problem.
I was more concerned about Amazon themselves checking tracking numbers etc.
These would tell of where items are posted from. If its the same place all the time then it wouldnt take much to link you to other accounts. Just think of a van full of Amazon guys sitting outside a post office waiting to "take you down"! LOL :) I know...I need to get out more! :boink:

I also wear disguises for each account. One account I wear a jets cap and shades, other account I dress up as a rabbi

jbluntz 05-24-2010 08:57 PM

I sell stuff under 13oz and just stuff it all down the mail shoot.

But after the 15th one they jam it up.

I bought a used messenger uniform at goodwill that says "Dart Delivery" I put a magnetic sign on the PU that says Dart Delivery, then drop off 50+ packages from umpteen accounts at one time. If ever asked I have a business card ready with the home office in the Canary Islands. Oh yea, made a bitchin ID to go along with the uniform. Even gets me free coffee and doughnuts sometimes.

jbluntz 05-24-2010 09:29 PM

That seems pretty far fetched lol or you can group your accounts together and just drop each one off at a different postoffice. If anyone asks me, I just tell em that's my business headquarters or I'm on vacation. But with the mailshoot I just send em all down the same one if they dont fit I just cruz down to the next one.

Come on bro, get up to speed. Fingerprints is last years news. They are too easy to ⊗⊗⊗⊗. DNA testing is where the game is at now. Hard to ⊗⊗⊗⊗ DNA but for a couple grand I can help. :)

jbluntz 05-25-2010 01:35 AM

Well that's good to know, I guess all I need to worry about then is getting a paper cut while packaging lol.
