Have to sell immediately on Amazon?

I decided to set up an Account to play around with and learn from. Disposable if need be.

But to my surprise the registration process seems to ask what I am selling right out of the gate.

This seems somewhat bizarre to say the least. So before I even start entering account info and such, I need to have something I plan to sell, immediately?

I was hoping to snoop around the backend first since its my 1st account. Am I misunderstanding the setup process? Or should I have something ready to sell and just list it? I really hadn't thought that far ahead. Again, it would be nice to snoop around the system 1st. Guess I could list any product with a price too high that it wont sell to snoop around. It just seems odd to make a new seller immediately blast out products.

Just pick some random item that doesn't sell and make the price really high. Then after you create your account, just delete the listing.

Thats what I will do, thanks. deleting a listing isn't a flag to them?

I think maybe I will list something I actually have with a price too high. Some jackass overpays, I'll ship it.

I still find it bizarre they make you list out of the gate.

I did it on my last account. Made a listing and ended it after I created my account. They probably do this because they don't want a bunch people having dormant selling accounts.

just list a used media item at a high price so no one buys it.
