Amazon Sellers - Bank accounts

Many of you Amazon sellers will have noticed this in your news feed:

Amazon Currency Converter(TM) for Sellers now supports US bank accounts
19 Jul 2010

We're excited to announce expanded support for sellers with US bank accounts who are currently registered to sell on Amazon.co.uk. Our Amazon Currency ConverterTM for Sellers service will now allow sellers to be paid directly into a United States bank account in US Dollars. For more information, see Amazon Currency Converter™ for Sellers – FAQ.

Sellers who wish to use a bank account in the United States will find instructions for updating their seller account on the following Help page: Entering Your Banking Details.

In parallel, we will also allow sellers to register for our Marketplace in the US (amazon.com), with a bank account in the UK, Germany or France. Your disbursements will be made in British Pounds (GBP) or Euro (EUR) respectively. Learn more about selling on Amazon.com

I'm a bit daft though, does this mean I can sell on Amazon US being and Amazon UK seller?, do I not need at American address?

Seems like it.

dennisjaneway 07-21-2010 09:54 AM

yes "we can"

I have a registered UK and German Amazon Account with my US adress + US Bank Account,

so the same is now for EU-Citizen, U can register with your home-adress and home-bank account! on Amazon.com.

Do Amazon shaft you on exchange rates like Paypal do?, ie USD going into a GBP bank account

dennisjaneway 07-25-2010 08:11 AM

no thats incl. in your 15 % fee!

no extra fee for GBP to USD or EURO to USD

So does this make it easier for me to sell to say Germany, France etc with a UK Amazon account. I could do lots of business there but you have to have an acount based in their country to sell.
Thanks

dennisjaneway 07-25-2010 09:53 AM

now u can use any bank account in any of their countries.

When u sell in Germany for example u dont need a German Bank Account, u can use a US, France, UK Account!

I prefer the US Bank Account because it can be opened in seconds!

You can open a US bank account in seconds?, how?.

i am a EU Citizen, so dont count on me :)

but here is a trick:

there are two options

a) u have a SSN
go to bankofamerica.com and open an account with a deposit of 25 $ online

b) u have a ITIN (u can get that from the IRS)
go to bankofamerica.com and open an account with a deposit of 25 $ online

both ways need a ID-Number (SSN or ITIN) or when u dont have one of these, u must come to the US, but the easiest way is with a ITIN! and a US-Adress of course for the debit card!
