| beaches | 08-03-2010 11:50 AM | Amazon buyer's do not know what feedback means? I received a afeed back from someone saying I want my money back Horrible. The item was exactly what they ordered and was received on time and i gave a free item with it. It seems that the buyers are not understanding what feedback is. They are giving the item(In this case) A movie. a bad rating But they are leaving it against the seller. |
| JohnnyBoy | 08-03-2010 11:55 AM | Feedback is just a crude joke to buyers. I emailed over 80 buyers requesting feedback and only got 2. |
Sad that they don't have a feedback reminder system or such. Problem is that Amazon is geared towards the hit-and-run buyers. They buy, receive, and forget about it. Well...so far as my experiences have gone. |
| aking | 08-03-2010 01:24 PM | Yea, I know we're talking Amazon, but eBay is the same way. They need to come up with an incentive encouraging buyers to leave feedback. I have sold over 50 items on one account and only 12 even bothered to leave any feedback. Constant messaging and emails are a complete wait of time, they fail to respond or leave feedback. You get nowhere on ebay with no feedback, my holds should have been gone a long time ago!!
I even thought, maybe if I leave them feedback first, then they will. WRONG! |
Never leave feedback first. You are doing all you can but you as a seller should wait for customer to leave feedback. I only start to leave feedback for the buyers when I hit 100+. |

I only do that for my items that ALL my customers are satisfied with. I would never do that for anything used or something I was unsure about. |

go figure... |

Well...so far as my experiences have gone. | Amazon does have a reminder system - automatic emails are generated a few weeks after sales to remind buyers to leave feedback.
The real problem with Amazon's feedback is that they refuse to remove any feedback unless it meets very specific criteria (like being exclusively a review of the item purchased with no mention of the seller's performance.)
Ironically the problem I think is with buyers - they almost always leave either 5s or 1s. And the problem with so many 5s is that it inflates the whole rating system. If everyone you compete with has a 99% rating and you slip to 98%, you're screwed. And often times it only takes one bad feedback to drop you that one point!
As far as sending out reminders on you own: I did that once and got a certain number of responses, but one of them decided to leave me a bad rating, which rendered the whole thing moot. |
| OfficialGenius | 08-04-2010 09:08 AM | All of us should team up and send that suggestion to eBay!
Automatic positive feedback when none is left after a certain period of time. |
| aking | 08-04-2010 09:20 AM | ^^^^^ x2. I agree. It should definately be an automatic positive feedback if no feedback is left after a week of receiving the item. |

| newtools | 08-05-2010 06:50 PM | We only care about feedback because of velocity limits. I tired even bribing my customers with a 10% cash back in the form f a partial refund so it does'nt count against you. Still like one person gave me the feedback. |
| sahara2010 | 10-31-2010 01:50 PM | This is the risk you run into by selling an item that you're not even sure will run. No matter how descriptive you are in our listing, you basically sold him junk
Plus you misdescribed the item as (chinabuye.com). An item that is not even going to turn on is not acceptable. It is DOA (dead on arrival) and for it to work, the buyer needs to have it repaired. You should have stated it as Poor or Non Working Condition
Just refund the buyer and ask him to ship the item back to you |
| jeffweico | 10-31-2010 04:53 PM | Amazon buyers are different from eBay buyres. The mentality is different. On eBay, I average 30% feedbacks, usually all positive. On Amazon, it is more like 10%, which is really annoying as Amazon says you should be at 20%.
I also disagree with not leaving feedback first as a seller. I did the same thing as you guys in the past, but ever since eBay eliminated the ability for a seller to leave negative feedback, there is no point. So I always give a positive when a purchase is made. This DOES increase your feedback - mine went from 20% to 30%.
I have also received a negative on Amazon because the buyer didn't like the book. Not the condition, or the shipping time, but she didn't like the story! |
| alwaystrying | 11-05-2010 12:54 AM | Amazon buyers are brain dead when it comes to feedback. If they were in our shoes then they would know how important feedback is to an amazon seller! |

It does say in Amazon's policy that you can request removal of the feedback for only a few reasons - one being if it is a product review and not for your service. Just contact Amazon and they should remove it.
Another reason is if it contains profanities or personal details. Something that worked for me ONCE - I posted the full name and address of the buyer as a seller response and argued they remove the whole feedback on grounds of personal details regardless of who submitted it :D
I tried it several more times, sadly it didn't work again. |

I mean, I didn't write the stupid book! | Heh, the stupidest feedback I ever received was a day after they ordered the book I received a negative feedback saying "Darn my book club got cancelled. I hope they don't make me pay return postage." Where do they find some of these guys? I got the feedback removed and left them a negative :p but who pays attention to buyer feedback on Amazon? |
| Hercules | 11-05-2010 05:27 PM | I look at their address and google map it to see if they are in a bad area or if they are at some kind of business address. I like nice suburban homes the best. |
| newtools | 11-05-2010 05:58 PM | i have admit ppl are pretty restarted, out of 80+ sales im lucky if I see 20 feedback. but as long as my velocity keeps going up and i can sell more, thats all that matters. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 04:58 AM. | |
