Default New Here Should I Not Sell Dvd's On Amazon

I have created a new amazon account and I notice a lot of people are getting 45 day holds for there accounts. Would me selling dvd's raise a red flag for getting a hold place on the account? Should I just sell a variety of different items?

Can I sell a lot of items at first or is that still going to get my account on hold?

Would it be easy to open up multiple accounts or isn't that recommend?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

DVDs will get your new Amazon account blocked in only a few days, if you make it that far.

There is a LOT of information on this Forum in regards to Amazon.
Please take a few hours and read the information.
Then you will have a better understanding of what it takes to sell on Amazon.

DVD's are considered a high-risk category, especially box sets, since many people try to sell counterfeits on Amazon. Even sellers with 100% genuine merchandise get blocked by Amazon. That is not only true for DVD's, but for any high-risk item.

If you want to know if a specific item is consdiered high-risk by Amazon (or for that matter eBay) just go to DHgate.com. If you can find it there, it is considered high-risk.

DHgate is the counterfeit capital of the internet. I see many people who stumble across that site, figure they have found a goldmine, and start selling that type of merchandise. A month or so later, we see the results in a new forum post: "OMG!!! HELP ME!!! Copyright Attorney is trying to ruin my life!!!!"

I'm not inferring that YOU had planned on selling counterfeits. I'm just trying to point this out so that you understand why Amazon (and eBay) have a problem with this type of stuff.

True that Jeff. I shop around on various sites on various borders regularly, I could probably pick out daily new sellers who have had that exact epiphany and pop up here and there only to disappear days or even a day later with all their listings blocked.

Its possible to make a nice loop selling dvd's on amazon. You have to sell very slowly spreading your sales out and never pass your 28 day velocity limit. Just remember, you wont get pass the inevitable account review. The longest I've ever seen a media selling account make it was around 3 months.

True. In my case though, I've only had one account suspended so far this year. With the exception of two accounts made in Feb, all my other accounts are still up and running since last year selling box set DVD's and Disney. During last years holiday frenzy, I had one brand new account sale over twenty Disney DVD's and was put under review. Somehow, that one passed along with others.

You do have to be careful though. Something as simple as a customer emailing you stating that the DVD doesn't work properly could get you blocked for good. It is a risk, but well worth it if you go slow and spread over multiple accounts.

Also, if you peruse some sellers storefronts on Amazon selling DVD's, you can spot lots of them with 10,000 to 30,0000 feedback who sale hundreds of replica DVD's you can acquire through DHgate. A lot of those even aren't even made here in US and are blatant ⊗⊗⊗⊗. How they can get away with it is truly perplexing.

I typically start selling s after 15 to 20 feedback. I buy lots of crap and start out slow
I have a $11 item I can sell at a profit of 6 to 7$ profit. So once I get 10 dsr. I then stop selling it. This item gets me 100% feedback everytime.not a fast seller though.but that is ok.i want it to take a little time.once finished.i begin bigger items. And move that item to a new account.

I have one media Amazon account, going on 6 months now. Keeping the volume under $1,200 - $1,500 a month for the past two months. 10 feedbacks at 100% and everything so far is fine and dandy...

I never keep my hopes up though, it won't last forever. A review will certainly not surprise me if it happens. Thanks to this site I have fresh maturing backup accounts locked and loaded and ready to blast!

FYI: I sell one title only

Anything - DVDs, CDs, games, whatever - you may run into problems if you keep selling...

One or 2 sales won't kill you - 1 neg feedback might not but it's enough

I have sold lots of dvd's on amazon, and there is a way to do it. You have to go really slow in the beginning. Sell like one dvd a day for the first month or two. You have to get customers to give you feedback which is harder on Amazon. The higher your feedback, the more you can sell without your account being placed on hold.

JMox does make a solid point - feedback is hard to come by but it's gold to keep your account alive.

I would have to admit it is possible to stay under the radar for a little while by selling slower and like Jmox said maybe 1 item a day or so.

Here is the bottom line on Amazon for selling ANYTHING...

Theyare VERY customer service oriented. If they feel you are not providing a good experience for their customers, you are GONE. End of story.

They have ZERO tolerance for counterfeits, low quality merchandise, unprofessional behavior, slow shipping, etc.

If you sell good quality merchandise that is LEGITIMATE and can give good customer service, your account CAN last. No guarantees, you understand, but it is possible.

Sell counterfeits, stuff that falls apart, argue with their customers over refund requests, etc. and the account will be closed.
