Default Fulfilled by Amazon

What is the general consensus here on Amazon fulfilment?. Didn't appeal to me at first, because I dropship, but now I think it could be very good for sales.

Fulfilled by Amazon listings actually look just like normal Amazon listings, bar some small print saying sold by Mr X, fulfilled by Amazon. So because they are normal Amazon listings then they can be promoted via various marketing methods such as 'dealoftheday' websites, whereas standard marketplace sellers generally can't. Also Amazon take care of the shipping, admin etc.

Really going to have to look into this more.

You have to ship to Amazon from yourself so might save some money on initial shipping. If you dropship then doesnt not make much sense.

but i don't think there's any way (after the fees) that the seller will be able to make an profit if they are buying from amazon and doing the amazon fulfillmint. just doesn't make sense.

you can't ship from amazon to amazon.

You need to send a shipment of goods to their warehouse, where it will be inventoried and stored.
As items sell, you get a cut, and amazon takes their cut, plus warehouse fees.
the good part is you get premium visibility, and amazon takes care of all the shipping issues off your hands.

its an excellent option if it works for you , as it gets around allkinds of carp , like velocity limits, shipping time issues, customer service issues , etc. You just need to be sure your quality is fine so items are not , "not as described" etc.

If you do this, make sure your items are 100% legitimate and BE CAREFUL of how much stuff you have sitting there. I saw a post where a woiman was using FBA for years and she had over 30,000 books with them. Then they blocked her account. They then will either dispose of the items (so they say) or you can pay a fixed cost per item to have them shipped back to you. But they don't let you pick and choose. So she lost all of her inventory as the price to send it all back was not worth it.

Most of my the stuff I sell is not the lowest price available, for example I might see a boxset for £40 on Amazon, then I will create a reworded listing and sell for £80. So perhaps you could buy a few at the lower price, send to Amazon and wait for them to sell.

Legitimacy is key - any stories around of illegitimate goods being fulfilled of Amazon? My Net search revealed nothing...ha not unexpected as "Amazon keeps all information private and proprietary".

A friend of mine tried that. He sent about $500 worth of DVD box sets to Amazon. No problems. But the packaging was 100% perfect. Made about $1500 in total sales.

He was just about to send a second shipment when he got the "recopied media" email.

I could never figure out exactly what did him in... He DID have a customer complaint, but that was after all of the stuff had left their warehouse. So I am not sure if it was the customer complaint, or if an Amazon employee spotted something.

In any event, it is probably not a good idea to do this. And this experience was nearly a year ago.

Bottom line is, using FBA won't sheild you from being blocked and it MAY speed up the process.

Now, if you were talking about LEGITIMATE items, that might be a different story.

P.S. I know this guy from the internet, not personally.

can you confirm the velocity limit issue? what happends if you get too many returns on that particular item? will amazon contact you and say "we can fullfill anymore"?
