| jsmith1234 | 11-06-2010 02:41 AM | Amazon Velocity Limits So we all know that the 28-day velocity limit is $750.
My question is this:
From experience does the velocity limit increase after the 28 period.
(After reading some forums, i learned its based on customer feedback).
So what could we expect the velocity limits to be (considering that you get under 10 ratings a month, all positive)
1st month: $750
2nd month: ---
3rd month: ---
4th month: --- |
Simply add $300 a month is the safe bet. |
I have personally more-than-doubled sales for the second month (after passing the first limit) and have had no problems so far. Knock on wood. |
| alwaystrying | 11-07-2010 09:54 AM | 750 Velocity limit is not accurate. I had an account that made 200 and had 100 sitting and it went into review . selling used items. So it is just them doing a random review on accounts. |

Did the email you received state something about the 30 day review, and that they do this on faster growing accounts and that it does not mean that you did anything wrong?
I'm asking because I have had MANY, MANY Amazon accounts and have NEVER had one go into review after $200. Not even back in the days when I sold DVD's... |

Did you get reviewed the first month beforehand? |
| jeffweico | 11-07-2010 12:16 PM | Here is what I know FOR SURE about Amazon and Velocity Limits...
$750 the first month. Usually a safe bet. If, by some off chance, you get a ton of positive feedbacks, you may be able to exceed that. But getting feedback on Amazon is difficult. On eBay, between 30% and 50% of my buyers leave feedback. On Amazon, it is more like 10% - 20%. And Amazon WANTS 20%.
In subsequent months, you can go over. The more positive feedback you have, the more you can go over. I've never been able to nail the amounts. Some suggest $150 for each positive feedback, but I cannot confirm that.
HOWEVER - if you sell in a high-risk category, such as DVD's, reviews can come at any time, no matter how much feedback you have.
Amazon has soft reviews (my terminology, I don't know what they call them) where a rep reviews your account and all activity is suspended for 10-20 minutes. You can undergo this without ever knowing it.
Then there is the 30 day review. All funds are held in your account until the review is over. Maybe it takes 28 days, maybe 32, but I have not known anyone to get the review done any faster. During this time, it is best to add tracking numbers on EVERYTHING you sell.
Some people use the term review and suspension interchangably, but there is a difference. During a review, you can still list and sell.
Amazon, to my knowledge, does not do suspensions the way that eBay does. If they do not like what you are doing, they simply block you. That means you are banned for life and they hold your money for 90 days from the day the account was blocked.
If you seem to be having a problem in a specific area, like shipping time, a rep will contact you via email and make suggestions as to how you can improve. They will tell you that you have "X" (whatever time period) to improve. That only happened to me once, and my money was not held as in a typical review. I WAS able to get the account back to where it should have been in the first place.
The 30 day reviews are triggered automatically. I have seen them go both ways. Sometimes you pass, other times you don't. One of the posters above said it was $200, but I have to believe that Amazon saw something they did not like, I have had many, MANY Amazon accounts and have never triggered a review after $200 in sales. |
| jsmith1234 | 11-07-2010 03:02 PM | So how is it possible that you can double your velocity limit?
Would you need something like 7 feedback? Or is there a cap no matter how much feedback you get |

Did you get reviewed the first month beforehand? | Yes, thats correct. After selling about $750 - $800 in my first month, I received notice of a 30 day review. I had no feedback at that time. I immediately emailed my buyers and requested feeback. I received 3 positives. I then sent an email to Amazon, including the tracking numbers and the information that was requested. I received an email reply 2 days later that my review was lifted and funds were available to me. In my second month, I sold over $1500 with no issues. And I am still knocking on wood. |
| johnglad | 11-08-2010 07:34 AM | Does the velocity limit reset on the 1st of every month for every seller or is it a different date for everyone? |
| cardfelon | 11-08-2010 09:34 AM | You should always upload the tracking numbers when you go to confirm the shipment. If you only upload them when asked for it doesn't look so good when Amazon does a review of your account. I have always uploaded the tracking information when confirming the shipment and have never had a 30 day review. And yes I sold more than $750 in the first month and it was dvds. But I did not sell all $750 at one time. I did $400-500 in a two week period and then went and sold more. If you try to blow out a bunch of stuff at one time that will draw attention to your account. |
Multiple of factors - prob related to category of sales, feedback, amount sold, and longetivity. Case point: I have had accounts going in review after 200 or so when I had many listings up - Another account sold 4k+ in 1 week and was still having no review.
It's a big judgement call - there's nothing 100% guaranteed to work. I have a suspicion that they also have some monitoring of IP log-in. |
| inthezone | 11-08-2010 10:42 AM | cardfelon,
I sold many DVDs in 2 days and made around 800 bucks and they notified me saying that I was under a review. I bought the postage through amazon and all the tracking information was already on the site and I even had 2 good feed backs, but they ended up suspending my account even after telling them that I could supply invoices. I guess my mistake was selling too many DVDs in a very little time. |

It's not necessarily the 1st of every month, it's on a 28 day rolling. So for example, if your review starts on the 15th of a 30 day month then if you pass the limits reset on the 13th of the next month. |
| VN99LHO | 11-09-2010 04:22 AM | I sold less than $750 ( about $734) in first 14 days of account but still under review by Amazon, have I have any wrong???
$750 = Order Totals + Shipping fee total - Amazon fees
or:
$750 = Order Totals + Shipping fee total
or:
$750 = Order Totals
pls help, thanks |
Welcome to the forum VN99LHO,
Have you read through the post and seen what people have said or have you just jumped into posting?
Lot of details are missing - what did you sell, feedback, etc. Post a lot more info and you will get better response. As for now, you are under review by Amazon - provide all the info they need and wait patiently.
Or set up new account...
Hope to see more of your contributions as you get informed. All the best |

| romeo216 | 11-11-2010 09:39 PM | I'm guessing most accounts won't get banned after a review if you aren't selling a ton of the same item. Mix things up a bit and see what happens. I haven't tried doing this but I'm going to. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 10:14 AM. | |
