Amazon gift card tracking
 

I bought two gift cards to place orders on amazon.com. I have always been curious to know how much information is being tracked at any time by amazon, what their information retention policies are, and so forth.

I decided to test this. I had customer service pull one of my gc's and, to my surprise, they narrowed down all the orders i placed for my gc including shipping details and so forth, but didn't specify the privacy aspect of such info (meaning I placed these transactions, therefore I could see exactly what transactions were made and where they got shipped to).

But what if you are on the other side. What if your gc is stolen and you try to track this information down - what happens then and how much help can amazon provide?
Thoughts please!!!

Well thats no surprise, I mean each gc has its own special number so a simple search on there hand can find what orders was placed with that card. Its pretty much impossible to get your gc stolen since as soon as you get it you can put it into your account and store it there.
