Large Retailers Dumping Amazon

There is an interesting article about Amazon that was just posted on Internet Retailer Magazine.

Apparently, retailers at all levels are not getting much in the way of service from Amazon. And the larger ones are afraid that Amazon would glean information from their sales to use against them.

Gap, Macy's, Buy.com and others have already closed up shop on Amazon.

Mid-size retailers are worried that Amazon will see they have a successful product and go directly to the manufacturer, cutting them out of the loop and putting them out of business. Some comments from users state that Amazon has actually done this to them, and that it is reality, not simply hypothetical.

Here is a link to the article:

Interesting article and yeah I agree every time you see a good selling item give it a couple months and you'll soon see it's also now being sold direct from amazon. Eventually amazon will be selling every popular item directly.

If this is true, then they are WAY MORE EVIL than eBay!

Indeed I never really thought about it but yeah they definitely are using 3rd party sellers for many deceptive practices. They don't even have to waste money on products that don't sell until they see results they stay back once they see results they jump on it. They already directly selling almost every item in the top 100 in every category.

Great article!

Sounds evil but its smart business. They are competing in this cut-throat world just like everyone else...

Less competition for some of us.

I'm glad, get rid of all of the major companies, more money for me!

One thing I appreciate about Am az on is at least they are cut and dry with the banning. None of this limitation document business and etc. just to ban you later on. It's annoying but the setup to sell is much easier to do - kind of a mini-haven from eb ay nonsense.

Great Article Jeff,,,However this has been Known about Amazon for a Very long time,,,The Bigger Names are the only ones who get the Press,,Simply because they are "The Bigger Names" and they have P.R People and all of that,,,

Amazon has been CRUSHING Small to mid Size Companies for YEARS,,,Any Company that found Substantial Success on Amazon that Did not Manufacture their Products,,,Quickly found themselves in Direct Competion with Amazon,,,

I have been getting the Internet Retailer Magazine for a few years now.
The information in it is great.

As for Amazon.....
It does not surprise me one bit that they would be stealing from their competition.

Amazon = next Walmart

Amazon is run by total egomaniacs. While the CEO messes around with his "rocket ship", the place is being run into the ground. Most of the complaints regarding Amazon on the 'net are about Amazon, not marketplace sellers!

I think a bunch of them did a while back. Some of them went to Amazon, and they probably regret that now. On Amazon, either be part of the billionaire corporation club, or don't come to the party at all!
