selling on amazon.ca

does anyone have any info on if you can sell on amazon.ca from the US?

kris 02-13-2011 02:13 AM

I buy on amazon.ca, and have seen many US sellers there.

ovidiu 02-14-2011 04:45 PM

You can sell on there, but you need a Canadian bank account. Plus, you will probably get no sales. I listed my stuff on there and not a single sale in months.

rsot 02-14-2011 05:19 PM

Crap-errific sales at best.

mycrowman 02-14-2011 08:50 PM

good to know.

Have you thought about selling to Europe?.

With your exact same Amazon.com details you can sign up for Amazon DE, Amazon UK, Amazon Fr, Amazon AT, and Amazon JP.

The dollar is cheap at the moment, go for it.

Can you use your UK bank account to receive funds from Amazon DE, FR, JP?
OR you must have a bank account in that country?

Burning 02-17-2011 12:44 AM

HA! First person i've seen who actually wants to sell on amazon.ca. Trust me, it's dead beat, haven't gotten a sale in a year!

Thanks mate. I read on amazon.de and it says this "Please note: As per our Participation Agreement, sellers need a German invoice address and a German bank account to sell on Amazon.de."

How long does the transfer take for you?

sax4 02-17-2011 08:10 AM

Ok that might be outdated info, they introduced this a few months ago. I registered a DE account the other day, no problems. Give it a go

kas12 02-17-2011 08:18 AM

Yep I have registered, just under review at the moment. Not had payment as of yet.

sax4 02-17-2011 08:20 AM

Under review?, as far as I know when you sign up for a new amazon account there is no review, you can start selling straight away, although you have to wait 14 days for your first disbursement.

kas12 02-17-2011 08:51 AM

I know but i have been selling quite a bit and not getting any feedback. They have taken down my listings for 30days. Its usual for amazon to do this to a new seller.

Oh your other acccount, ok.

Yes might be worth putting a note in your packages reminding them to leave feedback

rsot 02-17-2011 11:27 AM

Am az on.ca website has its own issues with registration bugs too.

sax4 02-17-2011 11:32 AM

I would recommend people in the US and Canada selling their goods on European Ama zon sites. The exchange rate is good.

Alternatively you can sell UK goods on Ama zon UK for example, just go into store settings and set ship from location as UK

rsot 02-17-2011 11:53 AM

Good tip sasasasa but you would just go on the website and register even though IP is North America-based?

sax4 02-17-2011 12:46 PM

Yep no stealth techniques needed at all, Amazon have opened up their sites to international sellers. Overseas IP, bank, phone number, card, all ok.

Regarding language barriers, use Google Translate. You must also make the item descriptions local to that site, again use Google.

It's great they've done this, now when you create a Ghost account you can create 4 or 5 different country accounts with the same details :)

rsot 02-17-2011 12:51 PM

Thanks sasasasa - that is a solid clarification =)

Does anyone have any clue insofar as whether all amazon sites are linked to one another? Can I use my real info on amazon.jp even though the amazon account under my name has been suspended here in U.S.? How about previously suspended bank accounts? I have about a half a dozen suspended banks accounts sitting by and would like to use them on international sites. Sure, I can make more ghost accounts, but would rather use previous info if possible.

sax4 02-17-2011 02:42 PM

Well I was selling on US, UK, DE, JP, then my Amz UK got suspended but others were fine.

I suppose the best way is to try it out, what have you got to lose?, the bank account is already dirty.

rsot 02-17-2011 03:02 PM

I am just a little worried about the shipping calculation - does amazon do a good job for sellers based in Us selling overseas? Even the .com site is not good for that.

sax4 02-17-2011 03:09 PM

As long as you put your delivery time in the terms then your fine, there are a fair few sellers from the US for example that are doing well on Amz Japan, they are quoting 2 to 3 weeks

rsot 02-17-2011 03:12 PM

Decent - def worth a look into.

sax4 02-17-2011 04:21 PM

Amazon DE is awesome, on my previous account I sold way to much too quick and got suspended, I really didn't expect to do so well.

rsot 02-17-2011 04:30 PM

You have any knowledge on working with those sites using banned IP addresses on amazon.com?

I mean stealth is one thing but you could reuse an IP?

Funny you should mention that, I just logged into Amz.de with an old banned IP!, oops.

I think the best solution for IP's is just to use a mobile dongle, fresh one every time, no worries.

rsot 02-17-2011 05:16 PM

Ah ok so IP still applies - even if it's from North Am. Good follow-up - info is much appreciated.

soonthenet 02-17-2011 09:48 PM

@sasasasa : Can I use my previous IP and info of a suspended US account to create an account on UK Amz ?

I'm not sure, all I know is that I was selling on a few Amz sites and then got suspended from UK, but the other's were fine.

You an give it a try.

sax4 02-18-2011 05:59 AM

Actually now I come to think of it, I remember getting suspended on Amz.FR when my Amz.de account got suspended. So maybe IP

jason20021 03-01-2011 07:56 AM

So basically you're saying that a seller can have:

Scenario 1.)
US bank
US phone
US CC
US IP
and sell on Am*zon UK, Jap, Germ or must they have

Scenario 2.)
UK bank
UK phone number
UK CC
UK IP address?
and can sell on Am*zon UK

Or can a seller mix and match all of the data? (US phone/bank + UK IP, UK CC)

If scenario 1 is correct how does one go about setting up the account because if doesn't seem to be working for me.

sax4 03-01-2011 09:13 AM

Scenario 1 is most certainly correct.

Can you elaborate on why it is not working?

1. I logged onto Am*zon.com
2. Created an account (All US details)
3. Listed an item (finished the wizard)
4. After item was listed I went to "Store" and changed the Country that the item was being sent from (to Germany)
5. Waited, then search for the item and it did not display. (I even click on my "user account name" and it shows a link to my item but when I click the link it just refreshes the page.

Should I have gone to am*zon.de and registered with all my US information instead of going to Am*zon.com?

sax4 03-01-2011 10:39 AM

Yes, you definitely should of

jason20021 03-01-2011 02:04 PM

is it too late? can I still reg with am*zon.de or do I need to make a stealth account?

sax4 03-01-2011 02:06 PM

Trying to figure out what you did...did you use stealth details for the amz account you created?, or exactly the same details as an existing amz account?

jason20021 03-01-2011 06:14 PM

Im brand new to Am*zon. I've bought but never sold. So my info is unused and should be untainted.

sax4 03-01-2011 06:32 PM

Aha so you have two .com accounts now with exactly the same details?, surely when you entered your email address in the sign up process it said it was already registered?
