What is verafiable when you make a purchase online.The question is that some websites the experation date of the credit card is lower than the experation on a card. like example. cc is 4/16 and the website only goes up to the 2015.
do they look at the name address and experation date or can you just put the experation date that they have and it will go thru for the purchase. ?
just wondering what parts do they try to confirm...

AVS will only give a yes/no response as to the balance and validity of the card. They verify the DIGITS in the address and the ZIP CODE only. But I don't think it would go through if you could not enter an expiration date.

Ill jump on here I was also curiouse. So they just check the number and zipcode. What if the card exp is say 2/12 and the website only goes up to 2011?if you use 2011 it wont work??

If the expiry date and month do not match up, yes it will fail. This is standard of AVS as well.

If the website only goes up to 2011, it probably has not been updated in forever. Why take a chance and buy from such a place?

Is this common? I buy tons of stuff online all the time and have never seen this even once.

Reputable sites will have option of years until 2020 since they know of some cards that extend longer. At the very least 2016.
