Amazon DVD Trade-In Program

They will pay for shipping and give you an amazon gift card for sending in used DVDs.
What if I sent them one that was purchased from China? Would they know? Would they still give me the gift certificate? Anybody try it?

rsot 04-14-2011 11:38 AM

Ha nice little con'ning of the system. Have not tested it - you could be a pioneer and try. Report back would be nice.

SlickJane 04-14-2011 11:55 AM

I don't want to be the guinea pig!

Gman91189 04-14-2011 11:55 AM

think of it as taking one for the team :D:pop2:

They want to buy used items and repackage as new! that is what there intentions are. I received 2 times a repackaged item..Clearly i could tell it was used..

Gman91189 04-14-2011 12:14 PM

obviously... again who's willing to take one for the team and post it back on the forum

SlickJane 04-14-2011 12:22 PM

Who cares what they want to do with it! I just want to know, if I mail in a China copy, will they send me $10.50? Come on, nobody has done this before? Maybe I will do one just to see.

rsot 04-14-2011 12:24 PM

I would like to know - some potential there although this is straight-up defrauding. I don't do any of that chinamade media stuff but hey, any knowledge is always good.

unkown5454 04-14-2011 12:43 PM

GO GO GO!

amazonian 04-14-2011 01:14 PM

How much do they really give you? They sent me an email offering .25 for a Wii game........ PASS!

rsot 04-14-2011 02:17 PM

Yeah figures they would undercut heavily.

SlickJane 04-14-2011 05:13 PM

Well, The one I saw was $10.50 (and they pay the shipping on top of that).
I also think I read that the DVDs have to be at least $10.

rsot 04-14-2011 05:26 PM

I am guessing that you can get it cheaper from China for trade-in right?

ShadyOne 04-14-2011 06:16 PM

Are you struggling to sell then on e Bay and Am azon ?

This won't work because the Am azon trade-in programmes firstly requires the item to be from a retailer in your country - True in the UK at least :noidea:

It must also have a valid UPC/EAN barcode.

Amazon rejected items:

"Unauthorized" items are items that match the exact version displayed in the Trade-In store, but are unauthorized reproductions of the originals.

I have seen many of these China DVDs, Blu rays and video games and many would not even pass inspection by the eye...

Even then, the prices you get offered from Amazon are lower than the prices you pay for these DVD's from China!

Do you think Am azon operate like your local market seller  ...That is where you should sell them! :thumb:

:peace:

10/10 for the idea, made me laugh. Defrauding Ama zon directly!

SlickJane 04-14-2011 07:05 PM

You don't think the UPC barcode would scan?
I should clarify, I just have a few leftovers/returns that I don't know what to do with. I wouldn't buy from China with the thought of turning them all in to Amazon for a trade in. lol!
I have around 10 or so various opened tv series DVDs, that's all. Returns from customers, but when I played them in my DVD player, they work just fine.

Sell them as used.

I've returned to walmart before. If you have an iphone, just got UPC scanner. I check everything I get and make sure that it checks out.

Not to mention the covers are sometimes totally wrong. The printed side of the discs may or may not match the real thing. And then there is the whole spelling issue - many of these have misspellings galore.

My favorite was one that had the subtitles listed as English, French, Portugese and Cinese.

Hos the FRACK do they misspell CHINESE???
