New amazon shipping procedure

Whoa!

By default, the price of postage is printed on all Amazons postage label

Penny booksellers aren't gonna like this....

Ok I think I just experienced a reason for the change.

Placed a tape measure inside a small box then in one of those cardboard containers amazon mails their books in. It easily fit in the flat rate envelope, my customer ordered expedited. Yet when I got to the grocery mail center, the lady said the Postman told them not to accept those items, EVEN THOUGH my item more than fit and it more than sealed. IN fact, it had a ton of extra room so it more than sealed.
She said the USPS is recalling a ton of items mailed in flat rate envelopes and boxes and sending them postage due.

So then I said well they don't know how much I spent but I spent $4.75 so if you would deduct that off of the $10.20 cents, that would be great. Yet I remembered Amazon put the amount of postage on the label. So I paid an extra $5.45

So my tape measure weighed exactly a pound before shipping so no way could I keep it at a pound. With the envelope it was an ounce or two more but had to put it in a priority cube size box (Not flat rate) for mailing. And it would cost the exact same as the HUGE priority NON Flat rate box

SO I figure unless you sell stuff that goes for first class or is very large, customers are going to have a difficult time believing the shipping charges are not padded.

End of rant :pop2:

Easy solution. Use Endicia or Stamps.com

Ok I'll check into it, thanks Jeff

I should be selling enough now to make it worth the subscription charge

I process all shipments through stamps.com. It's very quick and simple to use.

Thanks Bestbuyz. They have a trial offer for the first month, looks good.

Amazons shipping changed again today. They inserted Hide the postage option and took away the ability to buy tracking for media mail.

Odd since it is so important to them that orders are sent with tracking. A month or so ago they added a feature in customer metrics "for reference only" lol yeah right...but it contains percentage of orders with tracking and their goal is 99% only problem is.. there is a THICK RED BOLDED LINE in the metrics on up to 3 boxes if it falls below.

I'll check into the stamps.com tomorrow, and click n ship and some others :juggle: thanks again

Amazon has a lot of drop-shippers working their site. I don't see them REQUIRING tracking information in the future, although I suppose it COULD happen.

I always use tracking. A cheap insurance policy against scamming buyers. Although Amazon is really not as bad as eBay for that type of thing.

You're welcome. Although, I was under the assumption Stamps.com access was a free service?
