Talking Intro to forum / New user / just got AZ Ghost

Hello all,
Lost my account last year. I sold open source and linux cds that I burned myself. I guess Amazon does not allow you to sell cds and dvds that you burn yourself. I did not know that. Now I know but i was banned and my wife tried to get an account a few months ago on my computer with AZ and she was banned as well. ARGH! So finally I got Amazon Ghost and will read it in the next few minutes after I am done posting this. Looking forward to selling with Amazon soon! WISH ME LUCK!

ok - I started reading the Amazon Ghost and tried planning what I am to do. I like the slow and steady method. My wife has been wanting a new computer anyway. So that will be the Amazon computer. My laptop was the one that banned us - the MAC address most likely! BUT now - I am using Cable Internet through Comcast and the IP is STATIC! It will not change! I guess my options are:
#1 - ask Comcast to change it? (What do I say if they ask why?)
#2 - get new ISP - Not too easy around here. Limited options.
#3 - just get a laptop or netbook and use internet at library and coffee shops.(That could work).

ANY other options?

Will a program like: Hide-My-IP.Com - Hide Your IP Address, Surf Anonymously, and Protect Your Identity
work for me?

But I guess there could be some mileage if you were using your own machine with cookies etc still on - but I wouldn't want to be the one to test it

Don't use the 'hide the ip' option, from what I've read on here that is a big red flag, better using a service that lets you choose an ip from a different area if you can't change your own

Simply get a router, and change the mac address of the router, that will change your comcast IP.

Yes, best option by far is to use your own network that you do not share with any other people/computers.

I would ask for a new IP. You will probably have to exchange routers.

That is good fast internet you have and you will need it.

Unless you can afford to do something different

Also use Google as your email provider otherwise they can track you

Do any of you use COMCAST? I turned off my router and cable modem for 10 minutes and that did not change my IP. I turned them off overnight. Again - same IP! I even changed the router MAC address - no problem. BUT still same IP!
DO you really think a NEW router will change the IP?

I don't know

Maybe it was a Modem I exchanged, not a router.

Some gadget they exchanged for me when I said I wanted a new IP address

Hopefully you live near their offices like I did. My cable provider is Suddenlink

I called comcast and they told me my IP is dynamic. But when the lease renews it most likely will get the same IP again. They also said that it is NOT guaranteed unless I want a static. So they said it goes for 72 hours. So I can keep waiting and shutting down my router and modem and hope for the best OR I can get a new ISP. OR perhaps I could get a laptop or netbook WITH data from a phone service?

Yes, I have comcast with a Netgear router. Everytime I login to my router and change the routers MAC Address, then reset the router and my cable modem I get a new ip.

I use a netbook at coffee shops. No problems here. Amazon is not going to suspend you just because a couple IP address crossed paths.
