Pre-fulfillment Cancel Rate important metric?

Pre-fulfillment Cancel Rate

Anyone ever been warned when exceeding this metric?

Mine is only slightly above the target of >2.5%

I was warned once. Amazon usually emails you letting you know that you need to improve that asap.

If its short term no big deal I would figure but long term could be problems.

Why is it so high to begin with?

adam34996 06-27-2011 07:51 PM

My inventory increased 10 fold this year and sometimes things get mixed up- Then I dont have some items in stock when ordered.

I am slowly adapting to a new system and doing weekly inventory checks so my number should improve.

Gamefreak 06-27-2011 07:53 PM

how could you not have inventory! Dont list what you dont have. I usually list 2 items less in case something happens.

Why risk a weekly check?

Check every 3 days until everything is running smoothly.

Reason I'm saying that is should an item not be there a couple of hours after an inventory check, then it's 7 days until your next check. that's 7 days of potential harm to an already flagged account.:juggle:

Not disagreeing with having a method but would suggest running things 'tighter' for a month or so.

I have about 5-6% cancel rate. Sometimes you wake up in the morning and you have the same item sold on Eb and Am, so you have to cancel one.

Gamefreak 06-28-2011 03:37 AM

In that case you cancel the ebay one. Amazon will kill your account fast! I try not to cancel anything through amazon.

Trust me - having 300 + different products on Amazon, eBay, and a website can get confusing at times, no matter how accurate your record keeping.

Mercurial - I am only at around a 3. Did they bother you at 5-6?

Get hold of a more accurate inventory tracking system.

A correctly prepared excel file should cover 300 items.

Just try not to allow problems at this level of items start to effect accounts.

Man, you are already doing enough work to run those 3 platforms. I would hate to hear anything got canned.

As GreenBean said, use an excel spread sheet. Just use a simple name and stock count. Print extra copies of each invoice, or write down each order right before you take it to the post office or as you put it in the "pickup by mailman" area (or however you organize your orders). Then just go through each order that night, find the item and reduce your inventory by 1 :). Maybe an extra 15-20 mins of work, then you can sort by inventory amount. If you are low on something, just remove it from one of your selling mediums until you restock

I had an account suspended due to to many cancellations. I got it reinstated after 2 weeks writing to amazon about how I was going to change my business plan as I told them I would not drop ship anymore.

Yeah, it was a HUGE hassle drop shipping with over 400 items. I simply eliminated most and just drop shipped the more popular items.

They are not bothering me for now, but who knows what will happen.

I'm at 9%. Nothing so far..

100% positive feedback and everything else looks good. So far at least..

adam34996 07-05-2011 01:39 PM

Wow! 9%

Thanks for letting me know. I feel like I can breathe a little at 3% and try to reduce it.

Gamefreak 07-05-2011 07:05 PM

they will warn you a few times. Only reason issue I see is you not being able to get featured with that.

Lheonard 09-19-2011 02:42 PM

Hi,

If I cancel an order because a buyer wants to be shipped to an address I can't ship (outside US, PO Box, mail forwarding), will it count as a Pre-fulfillment Cancel?

adam34996 09-19-2011 04:37 PM

Yes it will.

Try to keep it below 2.5% - long as you are not way above for too long you should be good.

A way around this is to process the order and then refund the buyer instead of canceling.

Thank you very much for the information, I did it and it worked.

Is there a way to block these buyers before they place the order?

adam34996 09-20-2011 07:09 PM

You should be able to scroll down to you "store settings" and decide to accept international orders.

Its not like eBay where you can pick and choose countries. Its a yes or no but if you change it to no, international buyers cant purchase it.

Thanks, in fact I'm willing to block PO box and mail forwarding addresses. But I don't know if it's doable.
