Computer wipe do the trick?

My main account is on cruise control  crossing my fingers.

I want to start beefing up one of my back up accounts. I have an old laptop that I performed a complete windows wipe and reinstall on. This was a computer I used with a banned account about a year ago.

I am a little rusty on GHOST because I have not needed it in a while.

So will this computer wipe leave me good to go to start using my back up account... IP address and other stealth info aside.

Thanks

It's always a good idea to format the HD and start out fresh. It's a lot easier than trying to reverse engineer all the potential threats.

You never know what's been installed on HD's. There could be hidden viruses or those keystroke loggers look like a nightmare.

People here have a good idea about how accounts are tracked, but the people that do the tracking are always working on new stuff too.

What about your router MAC address?

Everything else is stealth, new router new everything.

So formatting the HD is like starting fresh... correct?

It's a fresh start for any software tracking on your PC. The flash cookies are on the Macromedia site or whatever it's called exactly, but they will just sit there with nothing to do. You can delete those too if you want.

As far as hardware tracking, that's a whole different subject and there are all sorts of threads already about that.
