change of policy for some amazon sellers

Important Information about your Amazon.com Seller Account
Jul 27, 2011

Beginning August 15, 2011, we will start automatically disbursing funds to Individual sellers more frequently: once every 7 days instead of every 14 days.

Each automatic weekly disbursement will reflect the net proceeds for orders you confirmed as shipped between 14 and 21 days prior to the disbursement date.

Because we will be disbursing funds weekly, we will be removing the "Request Disbursement" button from the Finance page in your seller account.

To learn more about the upcoming changes, please click here.
Sweet isn't it?

no that's horrible...

I've always done DAILY disperse. Typically I get between $1000 and $2000 a DAY.

I need that money coming in daily to cover drop shipping and new inventory while expanding what we carry and to be able to pull out money to live on.

Now we have a MANDATORY waiting period of 1 week?

This is terrible news. My margins per piece are very low, if I have to wait a week instead of a day to do disperse, I may not be able to pay for everything that I have to ship, there is going to be a huge back order for me.

Road-Kill 08-07-2011 12:46 AM

Yeah it's only good news for sellers that were too lazy/clueless to click on the disperse button.

gcrusader92 08-09-2011 05:05 PM

lol people.

I meant it's good news because when you're a new seller, you dont have to wait 4 weeks for the money. =P

lakeman 08-09-2011 05:14 PM

Gcrusader, what you posted does not say one thing about new sellers....

Road-Kill 08-09-2011 05:21 PM

The only good news I see is it doesn't apply to Pro Merchants...

Are you making similar changes to Pro Merchant accounts?
No. Pro Merchants will stay on a two-week disbursement cycle. Because Pro Merchants tend to have higher sales volumes, they generally have ongoing positive balances in their accounts to cover any refunds, customer disputes, chargebacks, or other claims. Like all sellers, Pro Merchant sellers are still subject to holds on funds for returns, customer disputes, chargebacks and other claims.

Is it worth it to get Pro Merchant if I sell aprox. 30-40 items a month?

you've NEVER needed to wait 4 weeks for the money

you don't understand

you could get your money EVERY DAY in the previous system, you just had to push the disperse button

they are taking that away and making you wait a week instead of a day

anyone who thinks this is good news does not understand it is going to take LONGER to get your money under the new system

... yes

that much should be crystal clear

without pro you are paying commission +$1 per sale

with pro the $1 per sale goes away

with 40 sales, that one feature alone pays for pro monthly

the other features just become bonus

Road-Kill 08-10-2011 12:57 AM

What's even worse news for sellers that use pre-paid debit cards, with routing #'s, is that a lot of the cards have a daily load limit that is real low.

Since you will be loading a weeks worth of sales with one deposit, the deposit will bounce back if the amount is too high. So check your direct deposit limits for your cards.

Oh SH!T I did not realize that either!! I just had to re read the announcement on amazon today. This guy is just trying to squeeze every dollar out of the small seller. He is a greedy FK.They are basicaly saying if you want to continue transfering your funds every day then you will have to pay me 40.00 a month if not I will let you transfer your money 4 times a month that is it.I will set up 2 of my accounts for pro merch just to get a transfer every day. amazon just keeps fkn with the system...:mad2:

This could negate future account reviews and velocity limits.. ??

mercurial333 08-11-2011 10:37 PM

Just signed up for Pro Merchant, there is a lot of useless crap in my dashboard now, like Amazon Coach :)

I'm not sure how you came up with that conclusion?

They haven't changed anything for Pro Merchants.

Sellers that used to just use the 14 day payout, will get paid in 7 days now.

Sellers that aren't Pro Merchant and used the disperse button are the only ones affected.

We already covered many reasons for account reviews in the thread you started, and none of the examples were due to payout speed.

You can add items to the Amazon catalog with Pro Merchant account, which you can't do with the basic account.

The thing that sux about adding items to the catalog is a lot of times after you spend hours working on adding items, other sellers that were too lazy/cheap to create the listing will just jump on the new listing and drive the price down right away.

I come up with the conclusion based on shipping estimates for sellers to buyers. In other words, when a new seller sells an item, they may only cash out the funds associated with the transaction (7) days after confirmed shipment. What does this negate? Simple. It negates the skepticism for Amazon, as there is a mandatory 7-day period between the time shipment is confirmed. If the buyer doesn't see progress within this period, they can easily contact Amazon, or the seller.

There was nothing rude in my reply to your question. I was trying to be helpful and answer your question, since no one else did.

You are just getting annoyed because I keep pointing out the problems with your advice/logic.

If all you can handle is giving lectures and aren't interested in any discussions, that's your problem.

actually, once i started listing 500+ items, i found amazon coach to be a useful reminder as it would point out listings that were missing information

going back and beefing up listings that amazon coach pointed out actually did help boost sales on those products

while its not very useful if you are only baby sitting a couple of products, it can be useful to help get focused on problem areas when you are juggling 100s
