Foreign seller Tin requirement
 

Has anyone followed through with the survey for a non-US seller. Whatr documentation is required.

Maybe I worded it incorrectly, I meant the Quiz they give you in order to sell past dec 26th

Foreign sellers require a TIN number or also known as w8BEN form. Everything else is same us seller

ok , one more time..by dec 26th Amz has requested all sellers with over 50 transactions to submit yo a survey so they can determine if you should fill out a 1099 form OR an W8-BEN form, for tax ID purposes. Has anyone from outside the USA gone through with the "Quiz/ Survey", or whatever they call it? I want to see if they require a passport to prove that you are not a USA citizen and therefore not subject to USA tax.

Once again as non-US seller you have to fill out form W8BEN or something like it and in order to fill that form you need a non-US passport and passport number and copies to attach with it. Copies have to be notarized. This W8BEN is the form that makes you exempt from paying taxes in US as a part of US treaty with other countries. It is very simple just go to any business owner in town who is a non US person they will tell you.

Ama zon has all the info on the website linked to IRS. Its is not very simple almost impossible if you are a US seller. Almost.....

No documentation is required. I did the interview.

The cons: They will hold 30% of your gross sales because is the law for non-US residents.
