Banned for selling prohibited items on amazon Hi all, new to this forum, but been selling our refilled ink carts on Amazon UK France and Germany for years.
We've been banned many times for either slipping below the allowed % failure rate, or being linked to a previous account, but we usually manage a few months before Amazon catches up.
The notice we got this time was in German - the translation reads: ....because you listed the items which are not released for sale on our platform.
Its a total ban, not a suspension.
Lots of other sellers listing refills (like us, as 2nd hand / used)
We've never come across this before, and dont know what to make of it.
I've asked Amazon for more detail, but I dont expect they'll tell me.
Anyone got any ideas please? |
cherrqell | 10-30-2011 02:51 AM | When selling an item like refilled ink carts, your gonna get alot of disgruntled buyers. Those things are crap. They never work as well as the OEM carts. Just start another account, and try and sell quality merchandise. |
Welcome to the forums.
Not much more to add except: Quote:

| You need to have a hard look at that. |
slapped | 10-30-2011 09:24 AM | The thing that you may NOT Know is that those "disgruntled buyers" Mentioned above OFTEN Complain to AMAZON for allowing you to Sell on their Platform,,,When Customers complain to Amazon I Have to believe that 99% of the time your account will be Toast,, |
I dont agree with the above conclusions.
We never had a reason like this given before.
....because you listed the items which are not released for sale on our platform.
Its weird!
I think there is more to it than just % fails.
The last reason we got banned was nothing to do with the quality of our inks.
We had 8 negs in 500 sales.
These were either late in post (3), 2 x wrong item sent, 1 x listing error, 1 faulty ink, 1 faulty battery (which ironically we sell to boost our feedback)
Of course, we're looking at fixing that but these bad feedbacks come in random clusters. |
8 negs in 500 sales is too many
you should aim to get no negs in 500 sales, let alone 8 |

If so, those 8 negs will probably get you booted. You would be surprised to know how many people will jump the chain of seller command and go directly to the people, or organization that will get them the most immediate results. Don't take it personal. We have all been there. It hurts, and your infuriated, but use that energy to create new accounts, and sell, sell, sell. So move on, and don't give it a second thought. Success is the best revenge.
Cheerio! |
FandangoKango | 10-30-2011 05:35 PM | 8 negatives is too many out of 500 sales? Are you guys crazy or amazon is crazy? Cmon your bound to get a negative in 500 sales its normal business. What a crazy world we are living in! |
8 negatives is too much fandango
fact
if your going to be successful then you need to treat every order like its your first, therefore getting only positive feedback
you should always do everything in your power to ensure the customer is satisfied
when you start not to care, that's when the negs start to roll in
and if your getting negs coz the things you are selling are crap quality then you are not caring about your customers!!! |
slapped | 10-30-2011 09:49 PM | 8 Negs is about 98.3%,,,Not Terrible,,but Not good either,,,
SOME of The Lower Quality Replacement inks that are sold are KNOWN to Permanently Damage Printers,,It has Happened to Me,,This is VERY,VERY well Known,,
all it would Take is for One Complaint alleging that your ink Killed their printer for Amazon to "Look" at your account, and if they see that another one, or 2 of your Negatives are about Quality Issues,,,On Amazon,,,,you WILL get the BOOT,,NO Doubt, take that to the BANK,,,,, reguardless of wether or not you agree with this conclusion |
Thanks for all the replies but most of you are missing the point....
Yes, we need to improve quality to meet foreign buyers.
BUT this ban isnt about that .......
Amazon say we are selling a prohibited product, but wont be specific.
I'm assuming for now that they dont like us listing against cartridges under "used, like new", so we're starting again under "refurbished".
Other refillers seem devided on this.
Note this is selling on Amazon Germany from the UK.
Amazon UK told us NOT to use the refurbished catagory in June this year, so we changed to "used, like new" then.
No problem with Amazon UK, before or since, in 4 years with our range of refills, so our product quality is NOT the issue. |

Take it as a given that number means death of account. |
FandangoKango | 10-31-2011 08:38 AM | Amazon sucks. Stores like bestbuy or buy.com have thousands of negatives and they still get through. SOBS!
Well then lets get through the amazon system then. |
buy.com doesnt serve the uk:>
bestbuy.co.uk dont have a marketplace |

stugots | 11-10-2011 09:25 AM | I learned the hard way that once someone reports you on amazon, they just believe them and close you down, no matter how strong your account, they are too scared of unhappy customers.
make a stealth (or ghost) and start again.
I noticed those SOB's are slick they like to close accounts 1 - 2 days before a settlement date just to hold you rmoney for 90 days | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 07:01 PM. | |
