1099-K received in mail. No tax info was provided.
 

I have always reported and obviously will continue to, and just to let you know, I just got a 1099-K in the mail from Amazon. I did NOT provide the tax info that they were asking for. I have already put all the income on my taxes though had no clue I would be getting one of these. Just letting you know that even if you didn't to the tax information they required, it appears they are still giving the info to the IRS.

Yup they are required to, basicaly if you do not submit a EIN number everything is 1099 or else they will have to pay tax on it.

Yes. They can track it back to you though Im assuming. I have just seen posts on here about people who don't pay on their Amazon stuff and was just letting people know that just because you didn't give them tax info, the Govt. is still getting information.

If you think about it, if Amazon does not get an EIN number because its a stealth account, when they mail out the 1099's to the address on file then, when its returned they will probaly close the account to get your attention.

I expect the IRS will also ask why a long list of 1099's have not been submitted in with tax returns and they could probaly turn you off because of that information.

Anything that is not kosher with Amazon and you are gone.

Yes I exceeded the limit.

Im wondering if this is exactly why Amazon didn't shut people down on the 26th of December like they said.

IRS back-tracked because of the economy.

I'm worried they might close accounts now if the 1099s get bounced back. Any thoughts on this? Also has anyone received a 1099 if their gross sales were under 20k?

I didn't. I went on my seller's page on Amazon and clicked on the "reports" and there was a message there saying I wouldn't get a 1099-k because I didn't reach the 20k and 200 transactions mark.

Well I guess we can wait until after april 15th. If nothing happens they IDK what is going on with amazon for the 20k/200 situation if no one gets canned.
