| willicks | 04-23-2012 10:02 PM | Amazon Longevity Hello, why does Amazon suspend accounts that have sold 5-10 items? Like do they all of a sudden link it to accounts or whats the deal? Why do so many get booted after some sales |
| ovidiu | 04-23-2012 10:27 PM | Maybe they think whatever you're selling is too risky for them, or you're selling phakes. |
| AmazonStealth | 04-23-2012 11:51 PM | All the reasons you can imagine.....
-Phakes/C@unterfeits
-Linked to previous suspended accounts
-Not following their rules |
| ovidiu | 04-24-2012 12:06 AM | Look, for eBay it's sort of optional, but my deepest recommendation for anyone starting out on Amazon, or starting fresh after a suspension, is to read their rules. They are not guidelines; they are requirements. Deviation from the rules & standards can and will get you censured, canned, and banned. And there are some weird ones in there that you'd never guess, no matter how honest you are or how customer-oriented you are. |
| willicks | 04-24-2012 12:21 AM | Im not selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗ at all so that cant be the problem,
how can you tell if an account is good? I am thinking about calling them and asking is everything good for my account (not asking if it links). Just to get the anxiety over, if its screwed its screwed, if its not then ebay+amazon equals :O |
| ovidiu | 04-24-2012 12:25 AM | They will not tell you anything over the phone. The people you get to talk to on the phone have no power and cannot help you with suspended accounts. |
| willicks | 04-24-2012 01:00 AM | Hi, I wouldnt ask them if my account was suspended, but I would ask if everything is good, like play dumb and ask if there is anything else I need to do for Amazon to make my account ready for high volume selling.
Do you advise to sell slowly? Or does that matter since all accounts will be reviewed eventually. |
| ovidiu | 04-24-2012 01:15 AM | Again, the people on the phone know nothing. All performance issues are handled by the elite, never-seen Seller Performance Team, who apparently live in a hermetically sealed bunker* at Amazon headquarters and cannot be reached in any way but via email, even by the phone reps. Most Seller Performance inquiries receive canned responses. *this is only partially a joke, Seller Performance is indeed next to impossible to reach
Best thing is to get the review over with. Sell innocuous items and provide perfect customer service. Mix in innocent profit items you are allowed to sell at the beginning. Include a slip to ask for feedback. I started out with my stealth account a year ago, selling novels I had around the house for a penny plus the 3.99 shipping, and mailing them priority mail. I even bought some new ones from Walmart and sold them for a penny too. Got around 10 positive feedback doing this, which was good enough to get me past the first review without me even knowing I was under review. In other words, I just passed with no hangups. Lost money on every sale, but so what. I am in it for the long haul.
For the rest of the feedbacks & transactions I needed (to apply for approval in the category I was interested in), I had a friend who had access to legit Monster iPod accessories, and I sold these, mostly at a small profit. Currently at 55+ positive feedback on around 150-175 transactions since the account was started. |
| willicks | 04-24-2012 01:55 AM | I appreciate your help.
I had my original Amazon account which had around 1600+ transactions on legit electronics get suspended because of an ODR of 1.50%
Then made a successful stealth account that had 500-600 transactions and got banned for F**** 1.3% and could NOT even appeal it! Such BS. 1.3%.. because of a**hole buyers tbh.
But, then I made a few other stealth accounts and they got shut down for whatever reason (I think because I did not switch computers and switch my MODEM). This time I replaced EVERYTHING, new computer, new modem, new router, new wireless adapter, every god damn thing. This time I can use my real name since I am 18 now:P |
Meh - as indicated by other posters, the front line "call agents" are pretty much just for buyers. Account seller specialists seem to be scarce IF they even exist. |
| ovidiu | 04-24-2012 09:36 AM | Now see there, you have a problem that needs to be handled. You had good accounts that were destroyed because of bad performance stats. What was the reason for your ODR?
Until you fix the issues that keep causing a bad ODR (I know, 1.3% is not bad in my opinion, but obviously my opinion doesn't matter to Amazon), you'll keep losing accounts you've put a lot of work into.
You need to start including a slip asking for positive feedback with all your orders. |
| nobody999 | 04-24-2012 09:38 AM | since you are nearing 200 transactions, is amazon asking for ssn/ein? Quote:

| ovidiu | 04-24-2012 09:39 AM | Sure, the note about SSN is there at the top of my account, but that's my transaction count since the account was started. I am nowhere near 200 transactions for this year, more like 50-60 so far. |
| nobody999 | 04-24-2012 09:39 AM | i still wouldnt use my real info even if you are selling legit items....it's just too easy for amazon to suspend sellers. Quote:

| willicks | 04-24-2012 03:21 PM | The reason the ODR was above 1.3 is because BUYERS do not read the description on Amazon..
For instance, if I sold a TV that did not include the remote, I would state DOES NOT INCLUDE THE REMOTE, but since Amazon does a poor job to display the description the buyer does not read and overlooks than then automatically leaves negative feedback even when I work with them.
Cases like that cause the ODR to go that high..
The way I am fixing that is I am going to incorporate Ebay into the mix and sell the items missing one or two things on Ebay rather than Amazon.
As for my personal information, I really do not know what to do otherwise, I mean, once I hit 200 transactions (which will be nothing) I have to insert my SSN, so basically its all my nuts on the table this go-round. Unless I incorporate another business to use as an EIN..LOL |
| ovidiu | 04-24-2012 05:56 PM | For instance, if I sold a TV that did not include the remote, I would state DOES NOT INCLUDE THE REMOTE
Pretty sure you are not supposed to do this, anyway. Items sold on Amazon need to be in complete, functional condition. Read the Amazon rules and save yourself a headache. Amazon is like a retail store, eBay anything you wouldn't put on the shelf at Walmart! |
| willicks | 04-24-2012 06:24 PM | Yeah, I was aware of the policy, at the time I did not have a functional ebay account.. LOL now I am top rated though:D |
| nobody999 | 04-27-2012 08:42 AM | i have to disagree, i even remember amazon giving an example on what to put in the description part something like "missing dust jacket" when listing a book. Quote:

| willicks | 04-29-2012 06:32 PM | Hey, I know what example you are talking about,
but it is weird, if you read the item condition guidelines it states that the items have to have every essential accessory, even in the worst condition it needs to include the manual and stuff.
Its ridiculous that buyers cannot read the description, nor Amazon make the description emphasized so the buyers see it.
They most likely do not want to sell half items and have all these different sellers posting incomplete items and having buyers confused about which one to buy etc | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 12:57 AM. | |
