Don't think anybody knows yet. I have not entered the numbers and I think I'm at 80 sales for 2012 so far. Only thing I'm getting is the notice at the top blabbering about tax ID required.

Gamefreak 04-27-2012 02:15 PM

Im still going without giving them any information...the requirements starts next year for sure though

potofgold23 04-27-2012 03:20 PM

i'm at close to 200 sales and see no message even wanting any info yet

sadams124 04-27-2012 05:38 PM

just wondering, i checked out the area where this is entered in the account- it is called the interview wizard or whatever, and i tried it out, and then cancelled once it asked for the name. I'm just wondering what would happen if you entered in a dba name in place of your first and last name, and then further through the tax id interview, ect., entered in your employee id number for a dba as well. Would amazon know that it is not your personal name or not?

ovidiu 05-02-2012 12:17 AM

All Amazon can do is get a yay or nay on matching info from the IRS; they CANNOT do anything else! So all info must match what you gave the IRS when signing up for the EIN.

doomsday has come now. Amazon is asking my tax ID now. What do you guys do if you don't want to enter your tax ID ? just watch until it dies? :hail:

I got a email on a couple accounts on Amazon yesterday and I will post it below. Has anyone else received this email from Amazon?

*****EMAIL FROM AMAZON****
Hello from Amazon,

Due to IRS regulations, Amazon is required to file a Form 1099-K for sellers who exceed $20,000 in unadjusted gross sales and 200 transactions in a calendar year. As a result, it is Amazon’s policy for Amazon.com sellers who exceed 50 transactions in a calendar year, regardless of monetary threshold, to provide their tax identity information to Amazon. To ensure compliance, please provide your tax identity information within 30 days from the date of this e-mail. If you have not provided valid tax identity information by that time, your seller account will be considered in violation of our Amazon.com selling policies.

To help protect the security of your taxpayer identification information, do not respond to this e-mail with your tax identity information or share it over the phone.

Enter your tax information using the short interview process available in your seller account. From the Settings tab select Account Info and then click Edit for the Legal Entity section. Note that this interview can only be accessed by the primary user of your seller account.

For additional information about entering your tax information, see answers to frequently asked questions:

Learn more about the regulations and Form 1099-K at the IRS website:

Important Notice: Information in this document does not constitute tax, legal, or other professional advice. To find out how this new legislation will affect your business, or if you have other questions, please contact your tax, legal, or other professional advisor.

Best regards,

Amazon Services

See the other thread:

Those who are serious about Amazon selling start filings to set up an LLC, PREFERABLY after talking to an accountant, unless you already have one.

For those of you who have not entered you EIN or SSN you have two choices. Kill the account and start a new one. This can be a major pain in the ass as everyone knows the key to a solid amazon account is time and sales.
Your second option is to enter your EIN or SSN and keep the solid account and keep the cash flowing in.

The only problem with this is you WILL get a collection letter from the state and the government asking for the deserved money, plus you will get the fun 20% interest rate A MONTH.

So, if they send out the letter 3 years from now, have fun with the interest you accumulated, and dont forget that they can come after you 6 years later! So for all you who tried to "beat the system", odds are you will not, and also will have hefty penalties, fine, and interest rates.

It is stated, ad nauseam, here on this forum, that users should see a tax professional to ensure they comply
with any & all requirements.

I am just going to turn and burn multiple accounts when the sh!t hits the fan.. That is all.

potofgold23 05-12-2012 11:00 PM

Turn and burn doesn't exist with Amazon anymore. They'll delete your account and keep all your money

What's going to happen is

amazon is going to BURN you

and

you will have to TURN to put the fire out.

amazon is deleting accounts, holding MONEY.

Your game plan is outdated.:fight:

Thankful 05-13-2012 07:30 AM

I don't really see the problem here?

Whats the worst that can happen if give you them your tax ID there?

hangingonbyathread 05-13-2012 10:33 AM

My definition of turn and burn consists of selling up to 50 and walk mail all the items I will get paid for. Not sell say 1000.000 dollars worth of stuff and run. I know that will not work on amazon anymore that was old school scam.. Can't do that when they do all the transfers.

That is what i will be doing because I don't think alot of accounts will make it past that.
especially Stealth accounts..
