responding to feedback

I beg people for feedback on Amazon, and I usually do pretty well with getting it... amazon metrics annoy me a little bit...

Does anyone ever respond to positive feedback? I've never received a negative on Amazon, but I noticed there is a respond button...

Important notes about seller responses:

• Leaving a response will not have a numerical impact on your feedback score.
• Once submitted, responses can be removed, but they cannot be changed.
• This response is not the place to communicate with your buyer. Please arbitrate conflict by e-mail.
• If the buyer's feedback is suppressed in the future, this response will also be suppressed.
• This response will be used by Amazon to improve overall performance.

What have you guys said in the past where you have a negative? A positive?

I had once a buyer that asked me to leave him positive feedback, which I did, but I have no clue why he asked and if it had an effect on his account or mine.

During my early NONJADED days of Ama zon, I have responded to feedback before - with niceties, etc. Nothing really comes of it.
