Selling Refurbished iPhones On Amazon
 

So I just found an iPhone supplier of Refurbished iPhones. I just got my first shipment in of all different models of iPhones. They come in the box with the plastic on them. They look completely new and they work just like a new iPhone. I compared them to my new iPhones from my other supplier and I could not tell a difference. SO my question is, is it risky to sell Refurbished iPhones on amazon and list them as NEW? It might be a stupid question but I am just wondering because I would make a whole heck of a lot more money if i only buy from my supplier of Refurbished iPhones. Let me know what you guys think!!

I wouldnt recommend it but if you say they look new then you can try it. Remember to insure and put sig confirmation on all your shipments.

Just make sure you describe them as they are new but original plastic removed

You should actually try 2-3 that way you will get better testing results from more customers.

But what if All 3 go bad won't my account get suspended?

If you're not confident that they look "new" then yes just list one for now.

Used to sell referb digital cameras years ago I sold some as new because you could not tell the difference. They were Exactly like a new camera. Worked for me back then. But today with the technology I would just test the waters with 1 or two do not go overboard amazon is very different today than say 7 years ago

I have a VERY Simple Question,,,How are you going to Offer a FULL MANUFACTURERS Warranty on the Phone, do you think all of you potential buyers will overlook that? Fact is,,if the Phone breaks they are going to run to the Apple Store,,Then What?

One more Point,,what is the Problem selling the Phones as Refurbs?,,They sell Just as Well,,Yea, you will make a Little less per Phone, So What?,,,Just sell MORE of them..I Mean,,Must you try to Rip People Off?,,Because NO Matter how you slice it, If you sell a Customer a Refurbished Phone as if it were a New one, you are Ripping them off,,and by doing that,,well,,You CANNOT Last,,,But I guess thats why this Forum Exists

That's kind of cheating the customer.

sell them as refurbished and offer something like a squaretrade warranty. when the buyers try to register the phone, the serial number will come back as not new, or invalid. i see alot of potential problems going the new route. in any case, good luck, and I suggest making some back-up accounts.

Pls dont take this as too much criticism of anyone on the forums here, but I think its a scandalous idea... if things are 'refurbished' they are not new, however you try to dress them up. I have been ripped off before by sellers claiming items are new and they aren't, ie phones that are scratched and even had previous owner's postcodes(zip codes) written in them in sharpie and UV security pens, body trimmer/razor set which still had someone else's hair in it, MP4 player which had pics of a woman and her cats still in it... apart from the time and effort getting in touch, and sending back etc., its a bare faced affrontery in my opinion. If anything is not original manufacturer's new in shrink wrap, then I want to see things described correctly..... NEW ... USED ... or ... REFURBISHED.

WHy are they so high risk?

One of the Reasons they are High Risk is because of what you are trying to do, Sell a Refurbished one as New,,,what do think, that you are the First seller to come up with that Scam,,,

or how about having a "Connection" in a Cell Phone store and "Selling" a Bunch of Iphones along with Contracts to a Bunch of People who do NOT Exist, so you can get the Phone at the Contract Price, Unlock it, then sell it on Ebay as a "Factory" Unlocked Iphone for FULL Price,,,Do NOT Think for 1 SECOND that you are the ONLY one who Knows about these SCAMS,,,

BOTH Amazon and Ebay Know about these, and MANY more games that Sellers like you Play,,,Thats why Amazon and Ebay consider it HIGH RISK, and have ALL sorts of Restrictions on them,

This Forum is about helping people who have Fallen Victim to the "system" that Ebay and Amazon have created on their respective sites to root OUT lowlife Sellers who's ONLY interest is to Rip People Off some kind of way. Sellers who do not deserve to lose their accounts, is who we are to help.

No that is not my game sir. I was just asking a question please stop accusing me of anything! I know that most of all the iPhones sold on amazon as new are refurbished because I talk to the sellers personally. And for the recored these iPhones that I have are actually factory Unlocked! Please do not hate on me because I have a connection to one of the most popular items out there today!

I use to sell about 25-50 a week before they shut me down because I couldn't prove I was an authorized distributor of Apple. I was buying broke iPhones off of Ebay, fixing them and swapping out the back covers, buttoms and chrome bezels with brand new ones. Had about $150-$200 in each phone and selling them as store demos and getting around $400/each. I was putting them in brand new knockoff boxes with all the accessories and papers. My arguement with them was that "why do I have to be an authorized distributor when I am basically selling used phones? I guess Apple didn't like this too much and made Amazon do something about it. Did the same thing with Ebay and had the same problem...

Wait so amazon banned you for selling iPhones and not being able to prove you were a authorized reseller?

If you Bother to search the Forum and Find Post I Made SPECIFICALLY Reguarding APPLE Products (INCLUDING Iphones) You will have your anwser as to why NO ONE that is NOT authorized by APPLE is allowed to sell their Products.

You are ONLY be allowed to sell 1 Phone as USED, like it was your PERSONAL phone that you are selling. The ONLY reason that you are allowed to sell ONLY your PERSONAL items is because it is the LAW, it is called the First sale Doctrine, Look it up, and Learn,,ANYTHING more that selling 1 Phone for an Un authorized Reseller and they will Boot you when they catch up with you.,,Why didn't your "Connection" tell you that and help you get Authorized by Apple???

Pretty sure you can't sell NEW apple products on Amazon. you have to list as a refurb, or used - like new

Plus I think you can pull up the history of the device with the serial number. You're better off selling iphones and ipods on ebay. Mac books go quick on Amazon... but still can't list as new.

Actually you can, I sell ipads and iphones sometimes so I know you can. BRAND NEW SEALED ones though.

I don't have experience selling ipads, and iphones... I know with ipods, and macbooks, you can't. Bose anything is the same way.

I was selling them as new but had in my description that they were store demos that have only been taken out of the box to be used as a store demos for a couple months. I got booted off Ebay and Amazon because Apple told them the wholesale company I made up wasn't an authorized distributor. I argued with them that they weren't brand new sealed but used store demos so why do I have to be an authorized distributor to sell used iPhones. Still got the boot!

How many did you sell until you got the boot from amazon?

I lasted about 2 or 3 months...

You can sell then as NEW on Amazon, but you will lose the Acoount fairly quickly. Even thought Amazon does not have a VERO Program like Ebay, the DO keep a VERY close relationship with All Manufactures, particlarly Apple.

If you are authorized, it is easy, Just contact Seller Suppot tell them, they will ask for your Apple Authorization Certificate, Company info and Photo ID, and you are good to go

With an ipod touch, for example, the new option is not there when you attempt to sell it. Sure, if you're authorized, awesome.

Getting Authorized is NOT as hard as you might think,,,

Thoughts that occurred since my previous post....

Apple 'prefers'/demands sellers be authorised.

Potentially worse for this fledgling account.

How would it withstand a Bait and Switch claim from a buyer? High chance of this happening given the type of item.

What do you have to do to get authorized? Where do you recommend me selling these iPhones that I have? Craigslist?

It amazes me me that So Many people out there believe in "Secret Sources" for an item that can be found almost ANYWHERE

but man, I think it's kind of messed up to sell something as new when it's refurbished. You know darn well there's a difference. And you know you'd be pissed if someone did that to you. I could see selling as a refurb, when it's new... because there you're getting better.

This was a recipe for disaster from the start. People buying iPhones know exactly what they want and what they are getting. You think if you are going to go buy a new car, and they try to sell you a used one as new you wont know? Get real....

I Do NOT Understand, why don't you sell them on Amazon and Ebay as REFURBISHED, if you have a Lot use Multiple accounts and sell Slowly,,

Let me guess, If you sell them as Refurbished, you will not be able to make a Profit on them, so you need an Edge, like Lying to People and selling them as New, If that is the Case, maybe your soruce is NOT that good,,A Good source would leave you room to make a Profit,

If you insist on being a Lowlife Ripping People off by selling them as New, well then, Im sorry I cannot help you

If you can't sell them as new your next best bet is selling them as open box demos. You'll get about the same as new just a little less...
