How much does Amazon authorize on your credit card
 

If this was already asked, please forgive me, but I cannot seem to find it. How much does Amz authorize on your card when you sign up to make sure it is good to go?

Just wondering how much needs to be on a card when I go to get one.

Yeah I was just going to say that ...

Even though Amazon only makes a "test charge" of $1 i think it's usually best to keep $5 on the card at all times

id always have at least a ten spot available too

it's says $4 right on the end of the sign up page and they say they have a way to authorize it without charging it so the answer is $4 or more!

I think they only times AZ makes the charge is when your account is under their review.

Any amount I have seen on any of my account has been 1.XX

They make a charge for every deposit they make??? that could be a problem for me... or just the first/second deposit?

Before every deposit. I know this from experience as I was using this vcc that showed every attempt to charge the card every time. Even when AZ claims to make the deposit but never did. They check the card a lot more then you think!

I think that every so often Amazon occasionally "tests" the credit card to see how much is on there without letting you know

I don't know exactly how much they can test up to but I think that's why my last stealth account got deleted

I used a visa gift card and spent every dime and only left exactly $1 and not a cent more on it ... but I was making $800+ disbursements and I think they tested it to see if there was at least $4 on it and found only a dollar and just deleted it rather than take the risk

I created two stealth seller accounts this summer using visa gift cards

the first one was DELETED unexpectedly by Amazon a few weeks ago without any logical reason ... except for the possibly the fact that my card had very little money on it (only $1 on the gift card) ... so I assume that was the reason

the second one (which I have $25 on the gift card) is still up and running just fine and is the one I am currently selling on

I was going to do a $20 GC and just leave it alone.

I've have all my accounts for at least two years now. I don't recall ever updating any of the physical gift cards with stealth names on them I used when I signed up. I now for certain they've all expired by now. No problems yet with any disbursements.

I don't think you would need to update ANY of those cards for at least several years (my gift card i bought this year expires 12/2019)

if you didn't know, i'm sure that those cards have not expired by now

so, it's no suprise that those accounts are still active

100% False. I have many amazon accounts. All of which have been charged 1.xx initially and NEVER since. Been like this for many years for myself.

100% false is nonsense. I'm speaking from experience I seen it for myself. Just because you don't check or it does not happen to you doesnt mean you can try to discount what I say.

Even though my post count on this paticular fourm is quite low, I have been selling on Amazon since 2006 and I know for a FACT that the initial charge of $1 is definatley not the last time they do it.

I KNOW that they attempt to charge the card every time there is a withdrawl/disbursement and that they occasionally do it at random too

... just because YOU don't see a visible charge on the card doesn't mean that Amazon didn't attempt to charge it.

I have checked several of my accounts. The gift cards associated with them are expired.

I only saw the $1 when the account is in the review... so everything above was new info to me
