I understand that, but isn't that what happens even if you DON'T create your own UPC? Is the increase in competitors due to a new UPC, or a nitche that others have always had access to?

Are you saying that with a new UPC code people all of a sudden say "ahha! let me sell these too". Or are you implying that they say "wait, i currently sale these too...let me undercut him"?? I'm confused

Put a brand on your product and this way only you will be able to sell that newly created branded item.
Edit the pics slightly but not to mislead customers about what their getting, but to mislead the leachers enough that they may go away[tricky]

I create my own listings with and without upc (cheap ones) and have not had an issue?
I get the undercutting once listed but I do not get the approved list.
Please help me understand?

Since now the market is flooding of those product i can tell you they are iphone 5 cases, the time i had them there was no sellers and my listings are doing pretty well.... but it will be a matter of time i get the 0.01 sellers

I noticed that there were sellers that have the same cases as me and i think they are doing this little trick you suggested.

The profile picture looks like it was Photoshoped on the bottom of the case to put there brand name. On other pictures they have, the brand name isn't there.....

so i listed my items there and now i just got a message from one of them asking me to take down my listing or they will take action and report me to amazon.... they really can't do anything can they?

Ooooh yes they can. They can claim phony rights to that brand, and Amazon will usually take their claim for truth.

I contacted amazon about this issue and they told me i can report them for what they did, i don't want to do that because i wouldn't want the listing removed but i also got this message from them.
