question about dsl set up

Received anew dsl box to replace my piece of cr@p from verizon. I never used this for amazon ebay paypal etc. But I have also a router hooked up so my question is even though I hit their sites to browse only. do I have to change the router ip before (If i decide to use this for ebay amazon e paypal etc) or just plug in and go. Or should I change out my nic card also just in case. Thanks
