Not at all, in fact Amazon sees them as competition.

Of mutual benefit for both companies and amazon to do business together.

Hopefully slapped or AmazonStealth will join this thread to expand on what I said.

There will be 'deals' within 'deals' for your larger companies & corporations to sell on the amazon platform.

Large nationwide and franchise stores I would assume have the highest immunity possible on not only amazon, but ebay as well. I say this because I have seen countless common retails stores with very very very poor feedback/customer service and have been selling on ebay and amazon since the marketplace launched. The feedback I have seen has been as poor as 60-70% positive feedback, which is absolutely horrible.

But you need to keep in mind I am sure they are selling anywhere from 200,000 to close to a million items a month, and they are not cheap items. ebay and amazon has no issues taking the 20% commission on these sales, since they know exactly who they are, have constant high volume sales, and will be around for a while. They do not give these companies a hard time about their metrics for many reasons. They would rather boot the thousands of poor small time sellers, and keep the bigger sellers even if they arent perfect.

Dont forget that - while not right - keeping the big retains and large nationwide stores online, on the platform keeps a buyer mentality perpetrating that the quality is very high

And to add to AmazonStealth, ebay/paypal can make deals with these big time store to cross promote themselves or new services when they launch something new.

Like some of the really big retail companies (walmart, home depot) that accept paypal on their own website, those companies can turn around and sell RMA items on ebay. I would think those retail stores will get some kind of reduced discount for fees. Its just deals and cross promoting in the corporate world.

Deals within deals they will have but down the line they will get screwed like any other big company that joined amazon. They rather boot the little fish like us first. It is much easier to do so.

They won't get booted for the same reasons we do. For example, Toys-R-Us is not going to lose their Amazon account because a competitor reported them for selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗ DVD's, or they get a few complaints about shipping time or merchandise quality.

But these companies have other things to lose. I know that several large companies have already left Amazon as they were afraid Amazon was using their data to compete with them. And, they are probably right.

Amazon is the largest e-commerce destination on the internet and they want to keep it that way. They also want to dominate the market for books, movies and video games. Amazon has already publicly stated this, it is no secret. So, it makes perfect sense they will use everything available to them to leverage their future growth. Hell, I WOULD, if I were Amazon.

All other companies should form an alliance under one new name and compete with Amazon . (Major online retailers for movies, music and games. F.e. The Hut Group + Play + HMV in the UK)

Yes, agreed, for the big box companies.
Now, for ebAys premiere power sellers,
No, they are not immune. I've seen several
Competitors selling 700-800 items/ day, and feedback at
94-95 pct.
Eventually they get taken down.
