Default Amazon-EIN & Tax ID's?

Amazon is now asking for this when initially registering a new account?

Can anyone confirm?

What type of account are you creating?

I know they've started requiring it on all Pro-Merchant accounts ... but I just test-tried to make a regular account and it DIDN'T ask me for any Tax information

One question ...

Did you sign up for a Pro-merchant account during startup OR did you sign up for a basic account and THEN upgrade to Pro-merchant?

I ask because I think they are requiring Tax ID on all accounts STARTING UP as Pro-merchant

Started reg acc. no problem. Think it is pro merchant only asking for tax info. fkn amazon does not follow the rules 20k and 200 sales. It may bite them in the ass like ebay sellers jumped shipped or may have a high rate of scamming we shall see

It goes for both. They asked and suspended two of my accounts due to going over 200/20,000. All my accounts are regular. I know they ask for EIN for pro merchants. They will also ask regular accounts as well when you go over a certain threshold. The 200/20,000 comes into play regardless what account you have.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, did amazon not specify once you sell over 50 items, regardless of monetary value, they ask for EIN?

oh gosh, here we go with amazon changing. step by step they will own everything about you. the immediate tax info req for Pro merchant was probably their way of easing into a full blown immediate everything even for Regular accounts including buying-only amazon accounts.
