Can Amazon Extract Money from the bank Account?

If an account is suspended, can Amazon extract Money from the Bank account on an A-Z Claim? Conventional Wisdom would say no, are thereany thoughts on this?

slim jim 04-24-2013 09:33 AM

Conventional wisdom once say if bank account is closed there are no funds to extract

Wes 04-24-2013 11:33 AM

Yes, I know, but account is open, just wondering if i should close it?

sax4 04-24-2013 12:21 PM

As I recall.....no they can't

slim jim 04-24-2013 12:51 PM

I think PayPal isn't supposed to either but I remember seeing some posts about it still happening

sax4 04-24-2013 01:24 PM

Yes PP can take your money, you get a claim, you have no balance, they then try to take from your bank. The savings accounts I use do not accept this though.

Never had Amz take money from me, if in doubt search the forums and see if there have been any instances

Speeder33 04-24-2013 04:09 PM

i thought ive heard of this happen but perhaps I am wrong

what i usually do is have more than 1 acct in a bank and as soon as the money hits the acct I send it to my main acct that has no paypal/amazon linked

2 people have told me lately that they got hit with A-Z claim for low triple digits - Amazon didnt go into their bank account....their account was kept negative until sales paid off the balance...for 1 guy, he didnt bother - I havent heard an update from him. Just some info for you to consider.

Account stays in negative balance.

Emails start off friendly letting you know.

Tone changes when ignored.

Tone always seems to stay impersonal and noncaring - tone disappears when account is deleted however...ugh

GreenBean 04-24-2013 10:41 PM

No. Tone is smug then. They think they won. Crank out new accounts time when amazon go smug. LOL

MICKY H 04-25-2013 05:42 AM

Yes they can, in the UK anyway. This has happened to me. However you can dispute this with the bank as you have to be given notice of monies they are going to take.

rsot 04-25-2013 02:16 PM

True point Micky H - just to clarify the experience is from az.com only on my end

kockedoff 04-25-2013 05:41 PM

I have searched for this extensively past, and what I found was amazon will not take attempt to withdraw from ur bank account ever...This Is only turn for US accounts.

Wes 04-26-2013 09:34 AM

Thanks for the info. Since it is one of my main bill paying accts i didnt want to close it. Sounds like not to worry about it?

So if Amazon links you and deletes your account they can't go back and try to recover all the successful disbursement from the past since the stealth account was created?

I'm sure there are legal issues here against them doing it. However, they don't seem to follow legality when they are just deleting people's accounts and taking their money.

rsot 05-06-2013 03:01 PM

Havent had that happen to me on deleted accounts - guess it's like catch 22 - they dont seem to have software in place to go for a "bank account reach" but they do have tools in place to say "we got your money and you cant access your account nyah nyah".

GreenBean 05-06-2013 05:40 PM

Might not do a bank account reach but those funds' cumulative values will be earning amazon interest.
