Policy Warning - Who is reporting them

There is a listing for apple software in which I get a warning for any kind of violation and an alternate listing where I never get a violation.

Example:
Listing A; I got one for listing something as 'Like New' and in the comments section I wrote 'Open Box - includes box, manual and clean dvd' Amazon support told me I can associate Like New and Open Box... whatever. I have also gotten violation on an old account that were more legitimate than the example I just gave.

Listing B: This is an alternate listing for the same product as mentioned in Listing A, where nothing is flagged. This listing is less descriptive and actually had 3 different pictures and 4 different upc codes in the product description. In fact, I am selling Vero products on there and specifying that its an upgrade and not a full install in my description. I have never received any kind of warning on this account over the past 3 years.

My question is why is listing A getting flagged? Is it getting reported by a competitor (my guess) or is Amazon flagging certain popular listings for policy violations (like listing A) and not as concerned with alternate listings (like listing B)

Thanks!

I have sold some items missing UPC's on Amazon and have always sold them as "new". I always made mention of this and there was one item I could not list as "new", once I removed "missing UPC" from the comments it allowed me to list as new.

Who knows why they do what they do.

I know I got my account banned for listing a newish popular Apple compatible adaptor but was flagged for IP rights.... apparently. It was flagged by a company reporting to Amazon called OpSec Security a online brand protection firm who obviously have Apple as a client.

Funny... I once never saw the patent upon asking for it and neither could they actually confirm if my item was infringing IP but then Amazon dont care as we know and would rather wash their hands of it and just straight ban you.

My advice, unless you have proper concrete supporting evidence of the authenticity of any Apple items, dont list them! or be prepared to come under high scrutiny!

Apple items are one of the hardest things to sell, because they have a whole fleet of people out there "protecting their intellectual property" as I'm sure they like to put it. I would imagine their legal department puts lots of pressure on Amazon to crack down on sellers, and Amazon complies because it's better for business to screw over the little guy than the big guy. Facebook is the same way.

If you're going to sell electronics, better to stick with other companies.

Amazon is known to block hot items based on other sellers trying to come on board or lower prices to crazy rockbottom prices...perhaps you got caught up in the mix of a mass flood of new sellers. Happens all the time. Az seems to have an intricate machinery in place - all you can do is test and keep pushing. I doubt you will find answers on how to list by people who have success with this...for obvious money reasons.

Thanks for the comments. I will just keep listing on the alternate title, it gets almost as much traffic. Its weird how Amazon will enforce some listing and not others. For books you can get away with a lot, especially ones that came out before UPC codes.
