If you have an existing personal amazon account you can use that to cross over to amazon payments. That's a shorter way to get going to receive payments.
The card info on that account will be OK for amazon payments. Once you decide to get going, accept payments or add a bank account, you need to carry out certain steps including verify the email address.
Bit silly here. You set up secret questions/answers. Do not ever forget them. amazon say they can not be changed so do not tempt losing access to your funds. When you do the questions, you end up with a code to enter to verify your email address with the usual email giving a link & more info to add codes etc.
Bear in mind, you have to encourage buyers to use this. That can take effort. I'm quite liking the concept. Been using them for both USA & UK sites since last November.
Check also if digital downloads or services are supported. They sure were not supported for the UK. ( & that was a downer )
