Basic account vs Pro Account Costs

On the basic Seller Account, are you charged .99 for ea item sold, or ea item listed?

JamesNorth101 05-16-2013 09:52 AM

In the US as a private selling you get 50 free listings, over 50 listings you then pay $0.05 for fixed price items in Books, DVDs & Movies, Music, and Video Games categories, $0.30 for auction-style and fixed price listings in all other categories. You then pay 10% final value fee on any item sold.

Wes 05-16-2013 10:24 AM

is not .99 per item sold?

Does it not say .99 per item sold? on a basic seller account? is there no listing fee?

Wes 05-16-2013 03:58 PM

Ok.... I do have another ?. It seems on the Individual accounts you cant change the shipping rates.. Is it better when you set up to go Pro, and get the free 30 days, and then change back to Individual? This way you can ship at a lower rate on cheap items to build feedback.. If you select Individual, and then switch to Pro, will they charge you the $40 right away on the next disbursement, so you dont get the free 30 day trial?
Thanks!

I have just had a read though all the terms of US Amazon

If you pay subscription the $0.99 rule is waived. So you are right on that point.

The maths work as following

Item price + Shipping charges paid by the buyer + Gift wrap charges paid by the buyer

then

- Referral fee - Variable closing fee (category dependent) - $0.99 per item fee (Waived if you have a subscription)

The sum of that

= Total amount you get into your seller account

The category % fees are list here - http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...nodeId=1161240

The amount you will get credited for postage is listed here - http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...161252#credits

Now the free trial you can only get if you resister straight away as a Pro buyer, not if you register as a Individual and then change to Pro, that is why you will be charged.

You would need to start a new stealth, registered as Pro straight away, to get this free 30 day trial.

So the best way is to start off as a pro, and then go to an individual in 30 days?

JamesNorth101 05-16-2013 04:59 PM

Yes, unless you sell over 40 items per months, in which case you are better off staying as a Pro

Double check that you are not exposing yourself to the risk of being asked for TAX ID right off the bat if you go pro.

That's another very important angle to consider.

yes

Greenbean, you are 100% correct on that. Is there a way to minimize shipping expense to the customer with the individual seller account?

TonyAlmeida 05-17-2013 08:25 AM

Lower your item's price

Lower Price

I lowered some to .01 and the shipping module says 4.99..

I 'll try and play around with it..

Any Ideas?

That I think may tell you how to do it. I am not as familiar with the US Amazon though

Speeder33 05-17-2013 01:51 PM

i would stick to a non-pro at first until your account is more established

Wes 05-17-2013 03:15 PM

Accounts

Yes, it just seems like is is easier to get more feedback on the pro as you can sell nickel and dime items cheaper to do that..

Also, it says on a .01 item, with 4.99 shipping, if I am reading the email correctly, Amazon's fee is $1.74.. So I don't see where there are 50 items free

Ignore the 1st post. My second post outlines all the fees you will incur.
