MAC Address Storing

How many MAC Addresses does Amazon store against my blocked account? For example: I logged into my account at home, at work, at a friend's house. Are all of the MAC Addresses from the computers and routers that I signed into going to be linked to that blocked account?

If I make an account in a public place, and try to log on at home where I have logged onto a bad account previously, will the account get flagged?

I have over $40k in inventory and I need to get moving!

It is said that amazon does not track by MAC. Lots of arguments about this. If they do track by MAC, I doubt its limited to a certain #

Swag2012 05-30-2013 09:27 AM

Really? That's a huge part of the Amazon Ghost guide... There are several pages explaining that the MAC address associated with your computer and router is tracked by Amazon. I know ebay does not track MAC Addresses, so maybe that's what you are thinking?

But my questions still stands: Did I burn a bunch of usable MAC addresses by logging into my account in a bunch of different places? Is Amazon storing EVERY MAC Address associated with my blocked account?

Swag, if they do use MAC addresses for linking, then ALL of the other locations that you logged into would now be tainted.

Ok, then my next question is, do they store them indefinitely? With Ebay and Paypal the restriction falls off after 2 years. Any idea how long with Amazon?

I'm willing to go to the extent of getting a new router because it means that much to me to be able to continue to sell through Amazon, I've just tried to open 3 separate accounts and they've all gotten shut down instantly.

Where do you get the idea that an ebay or PayPal restriction falls off after 2 years?
I did read your first question clearly and was talking about amazon. The guide was written years ago. This forum updates the guide. I suggest you start doing your research

They (Amazon) does not store or keep track of MAC addresses!

Once your banned, your banned, that's it.

If you feel that strongly about the MAC address then get a new Modem/Router and see if that works for you.

That was only slightly rude, coming from someone that claims that Amazon doesn't track MAC Addresses... At any rate, what I'm asking is if the information eventually falls off. With eBay and Paypal the information eventually gets purged from their system, I'm asking if the same happens with Amazon. Does that make more sense?

Swag2012 05-30-2013 12:56 PM

One other thing... If this forum updates the guide, I'm interested to know how the Amazon Ghost guide can clearly state that Amazon tracks sellers by their MAC address and their IP address and actually recommends products to hide the MAC address and programs to hide the IP address, yet the people who are supposedly updating the guide are not aware that this is information contained in the e-book.

Dmshark25 05-30-2013 01:41 PM

Just go into your router settings and change your MAC address which will change your IP. And no information is lost with Ebay and Paypal

 He was not being rude; it just seemed like, by the nature of your questions, that you did not do a search in the forum regarding mac addresses. He gave an unbaised, completely accurate answer.

Also, if you are being careful about the way you conduct your Amazon business, then it is irrelevant as to whether or not mac addresses fall out from their system after a certain time period. You would simply assume that they store this information forever (personally I assume that Amazon does not delete any records such as IP addresses, SSNs, phone numbers, or mac addresses if they are indeed traced).

There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to stealth, to think that someone would know the answer to how long records are kept is just crazy =P I'm sure many of the higher ups within Amazon don't even know the answer.

Given the nature of the times and the uncertainty, it was a recommendation in the guide, yes. Better to be safe than sorry. Also, it is a possibility that Amazon WAS tracking mac addresses at the time, but eventually gave up on it because it turned up too many false positives. Again, one of the many unknowns. But the author of the guide is not a God (or a rouge Amazon employee, unfortunately lol). Clearly a decision was made to have a forum with a collaboration of thoughts, ideas, and evidence pertaining to the evolution of Amazon stealth, rather than updating the guide all the time.

Where did you get that piece about ebay/paypal's info falling off after 2 years.

That is wrong.

All of these ecommerce platforms have the ability to store info FOREVER.

I repeat, FOREVER.

Do not be naive thinking otherwise. The whole purpose of stealth is to be a new you.

Operate on the premise that ALL info is stored forever and operate with only NEW info. Life will be easier for you.
