| user3657 | 06-08-2013 01:28 AM | I dont get why ppl will pay more for an item? Just happened, my FBA item for 97$, amazon charges 89.99 and theres another seller in the middle. Buyer purchased my item.
Another item im selling is at 39.99 right now but the actual price should be around 49.99 so I have my fba item at 59$ waiting it out.......4 sales in the past week at 59.99$...theres about 4 or 5 FBA sellers selling the item as cheap as 39.99$
Im only at 92 feedbacks but 100%. Does that matter that much?
I just dont get it:laugh: |
| GreenBean | 06-08-2013 01:37 AM | You have not yet found out buyers are weird?
Or superstitious or strange.
There will be something about you & that listing that 'entrapped' the buyer.
Good work. Means your marketing yourself well.

| JamesNorth101 | 06-08-2013 02:03 AM | They assume if its more expensive it must be better. I have sold things in EB auctions for £13 that I had on buy it now's for £4. |
| GhostMaster | 06-08-2013 02:47 AM | No......... those buyers are frauders. You will deal with the chargeback claims later on for sure. |

Not buying into that.
Had luck with such sales, long completed & no claims.

| GhostMaster | 06-08-2013 02:58 AM | @ JamesNorth
well...let's say that there are 2 sellers selling the same item, both of them have 70 positive (100%) feedbacks. but one sells for $50 and another sells for $40.
If you were a buyer, which one would you buy from ??????????????????????? |
| JamesNorth101 | 06-08-2013 03:38 AM | That's sort of the point of the thread.
A fair number of people, despite feedback and item being identical, will still for some unknown reason buy the more expensive one.
I put it down to them incorrectly assuming that the item is better quality because it is more expensive. |
| MICKY H | 06-08-2013 03:42 AM | we sell a lot of cd's and dvd, we don't go the cheapest, but cheaper than amazon and we sell lots. On a cd we can be $4 more expensive than the lowest priced seller, but if sellers are selling really low, people think counterfeit, consumers are becoming aware that if its so cheap its ain't real. |
| Dmshark25 | 06-08-2013 07:19 AM | Higher price gives a perception of higher value. Happens everyday, lot of buyers think more expensive better product less expensive cheap product. Now this I'd know is not always correct but it is in a lot of cases you get what u pay for .....Sometimes. ?? |

| Kelly441 | 06-09-2013 09:09 AM | It could be that these buyers are near you and think they will get the item faster |
| slim jim | 06-10-2013 11:29 AM | When I buy something I don't just look for the cheapest price. Why even question something like this? You made a sale. Don't worry, be happy |
user3657 is still discovering the wonderful world of Amazon :) not always the lowest priced item gets sold... |
| Sandy D | 06-10-2013 01:36 PM | A lot to do with time.
Some people dont spend much time on the computer and when they need something they get on and look around a bit and buy what they want. |
| danshan | 06-10-2013 02:12 PM | I think people are not good at searching and researching an item but also people like to win or bid and even if a BIN is cheaper they get in bidding wars and lose track of prices and research. "I want what I want when I want it" |
| slim jim | 06-10-2013 02:42 PM | I know people who won't buy cheap because they think they are getting ripped off somehow. They'd rather pay higher price and not have to worry about problems |
| AllAboutStealth | 06-10-2013 07:45 PM | Ive had people tell me amazon is awesome because you can buy some items for only $0.01..... I'm sure the experienced sellers on here know how to target the not very smart buyers. |
Location might be the first thing. I have been selling for 11 years online and I rarely buy the cheapest price. Whats a few bucks for feeling secure about an order and "thinking" your gonna get it faster.
Second thing is search. There might be something in your keywords that is putting your buyer directly to your page?
Most importantly when you figure out why it happens Please post a new thread titled "Figured out Amazons algorithms" so we can all cash in. haha- It changes daily so just be happy and keep doin what your doin. Good luck. |
| GreenBean | 06-11-2013 02:37 AM | @hbz
You summed it nicely.
Amazing how wording can trigger a sale. Different things for different buyers.

| GreenBean | 06-11-2013 05:43 AM | Far better to not make it public.
Parameters will change again quickly otherwise.

| Gamefreak | 06-12-2013 12:20 PM | Buyer look for that 100%. The minute you lose it you probably wont be selling like that anymore.
It could also be location as in they can get it FASTER ( amazon offers next day delivery if you order up until 11PM at night ) purchasing it from FBA through you than through others. You may or may not be charging tax which is another reason. |

| scott300 | 06-25-2013 08:46 AM | Here is a little tidbit I discovered a while back. Was curious as to why multiple orders were coming in from certain areas of the country (USA), specifically same and neighboring states on certain days and then just fall off and then come from a different region of the country all amounting to a similar amount of sales each day. Really started tracking this because it appeared to be more than coincidence so occasionally I would call friends in different states across the country and have them look up a particular item that I was selling (specific DVD titles) and sure enough, in certain states the item would appear and in others it would not. It explained why orders came from certain areas some of the time and may be a factor in your situation; your items may be lowest price in some areas and may not in others. Just a thought as I don't know about the other categories, but I did verify this in real time with the dvd's. Haven't tracked it lately because I stared selling a lot less, but when I was doing 60-100 per day it was quite noticeable when shipping them. Oh, and this was from one account in the south so it was easier to spot. |
| they_screwed_me_too | 06-25-2013 08:49 AM | i sell a range of around 100 items
