Should i use FBA

Hi all,

Just wanted to ask if i should use Fulfilled by amazon and does it have any advantages and disadvantages? I am a new amazon user and i'm not selling that much at the moment but my sales that i do get are high value.

Also what are the fees?

Thanks

MICKY H 06-09-2013 06:55 AM

The fees are on the website Buddy.

If the goods you are selling are legit its a good way to sell

95 percent of my items on 5 different stealth accounts are FBA. A buyer can not file a A to Z claim nor a credit card dispute that will affect your metrics. Also, it is much easier to have negative feedback removed.

Also with FBA you can get the buy box right away by being close to the lowest price. You will get a lot more sales then you would selling yourself. As for legit items, it depends. If the barcode is exactly the same and the items are commingled, Amazon will just scan the barcode and mingle your items with other sellers including Amazon. When a customer orders that item Amazon will pull it from the mingled inventory. So the item the buyer orders is not necessarily the one that you sent to Amazon. This makes it easy to get feedback removed. You just tell Amazon that your items were commingled inventory.

I would like to know where you got this info from. Take NO OFFENSE to my next statement but that is what ppl who sell f@ke stuff always says when they get negatives or something is wrong with the order through fba.

its easy to blame FBA for almost anything but some stuff you as a seller have to take responsibility for.

It makes NO sense for amazon to do that as it doesnt benefit anyone but the crappy seller(s) and if something happens they wouldnt be able to track who sent what.

Go to seller help and type in "commingled inventory"

Kelly is bang on. If you sent inventory to PA and another seller to Phoenix under the same ASIN and seller B sells one in New England, they get Seller A's product (shipped from PA). It is one of the few problems AZ has and would be impossible to correct. But, if the item is 'stickered', each seller has their own ESIN # for fulfillment so the item can be tracked. We have had many returns through FBA, and when we get them back, you can say WTF, this isn't my item. AZ will refund the sale with proof of item (pics) and the sticker off of the return box from FBA

This is why when you buy something from Amazon it is not guaranteed to be a genuine product. If it is commingled inventory then they could grab a cake from another seller.

I'm just stating facts. Micky said "If the goods you are selling are legit its a good way to sell"

I was just saying that there are ways around it if using commingled. I'm not condoning anything just educating how FBA works.

GreenBean 06-09-2013 10:38 AM

Type your barcode into Amazon search. If the right product comes up then when you go to ship to Amazon it will say "labels not required" Make sure you have "Commingled" enabled under FBA settings

thanks i'll try that now. Anyone got a link to the fees for FBA or could just briefly outline if it is worth it or not?

Kelly441 06-09-2013 10:58 AM

The fees depend on the product and the price you are selling them at. Don't let the amount of profit fool you. I have some products that I make only 50 cents on, but I sell 100 a day. That's $1500 a month profit!. You have to monitor the sales of other sellers to see how many sell a day.

what about sending amazon the products? is that difficult if you have to do it in very large quantities

geg1700 06-09-2013 11:02 AM

also one of my products listing status has changed from "Active" to "Active with quality alert". any ideas on what that means?

No, it's easy and you can use Amazon's preferred carrier UPS and get a deep discount on shipping to them.

As for the quality alerts, it's just saying you should use more info in your listing. If it is not your listing you can't edit anything. Don't worry about it.

I suggest you go to the seller help section of Amazon and read EVERYTHING. You need to know it like the back of your hand if you are gong to be selling on Amazon.

Gamefreak 06-09-2013 11:23 AM

Very interesting stuff here.. thanks for the note kelly, now I can attack amazon who sending my customer f@ke stuff and blaming me for that junk.

Luckily some of you guys actually read that stuff.. ROFLMAO

barrycruan 06-09-2013 11:27 AM

@ geg, if this is a legitimate account then FBA will certainly help you. However if its stealth and you are selling high value items, I would probably avoid it. If there are any problems down the line it can be a complete pain to get your stuff back.

geg1700 06-09-2013 11:45 AM

It is a legitimate account however some of the items are questionable

n8zzz 06-09-2013 02:02 PM

To be honest Kelly, we found commingled to be a major double edged sword. We have dealt with both styles of fba for a while now and in the end chose stickered. If your stuff is legit.. you DON'T want commingled in my opinion.. you will get returns on things that came from other shoddy sellers. It really pissed me off to call things back that were returns only to find that this sub-par crap isn't even mine. If you have pride in your merchandise, stickered is the way to go. Also it saves a bunch of time over trying to divvy up shipments between what is "stickered required" and what qualifies as commingled.

On a side note, FBA used to be better a year or 2 ago.. back before Amazon starting opening up a bunch of FBA warehouses and expected sellers to split up quantities of merchandise into separate shipments going to a range of warehouses.

There are some benefits to FBA and some drawbacks. In general it is specific to each seller what would be best. There is a reason why the majority of sellers are not FBA. I hope that helps.
