IP question

Will be using 2 different computers (1-new, 1-reformatted) on a wireless network.
Have new wireless router and old (banned) internet provider modem.
Going to set up user accounts on both computers.

Question. Will the IP address be the same on both computers, and what is the best way to change IP address when switching accounts.

Sorry, I have a blank spot when it comes to this side of the hookup.

Thanks

If both computer A and computer B are connected to the same WiFi at the same time, then they will both have the same public IP, which means while you are on eBay (or Amazon) Comp 1, you cannot be on eBay (or Amazon) on Comp 2 if they both operate different stealth accounts.

Best way to change IP depends on what type of IP you have, and who your provider is.

Easiest method is to jot down your public IP (can be seen @ IP Burger - Track Your IP Address!)

Turn off your router/modem.

Leave it for 1 minute

Switch it back on

Compare new IP to the old IP

If it is differnt, your good to go, if its not, need to find a different way to change IP (several other methods are available)

Thanks James.

As we are talking AZ, can you explain why this doesn't work "while you are on eBay Comp 1, you cannot be on eBay on Comp 2 if they both operate stealth accounts".Have always used multiple computers before, accessing the same AZ account (our original accts) without a problem.

Am I missing something from the comment?

Thanks

Sorry, that is my mistake. Same principal applies in this case to eBay and Amazon accounts however.

You cannot log into two different Amazon accounts (or indeed ebay accounts) from the same IP address as it will cause a link

You can have two different Amazon accounts on two different computers, but they cannot both be using the same WiFi at the same time to log into Amazon due to the linking IP issue

Thank you. Misunderstood your 1st post.

Thought you meant you cannot log into the same account on 2 computers at the same time, not 2 different accounts.

Just trying to understand the micro points before getting reset on AZ.

Thanks James.
