Using VPN

Have read conflicting reports on using a VPN.
Just to verify, a VPN is using another company to provide the IP, correct?

Is it still good, or dangerous?

I have used one in the past with no issue. I don't use one now (don't need to).

Last time I used one was over a year ago so I can't comment on how they are now.

Yes - a company gives you a proxy IP to mask your own, Phd.

It is dangerous especially since a lot of VPNs have been used by people and eB/pp can know which ones are blacklisted. Some people have had good success with very unknown ones but VPS is still better....since you are in Canada, better options are dongle and cellphone tethering.
