You don't need to buy the gift card, you can also buy just the code from a PayPoint provider

The 3v voucher only has a 3 month expiry. Starts to get costly at £22 a pop.

I am after quite a lot of them ad yes £22 each is a lot even though at least £20 is still yours

Morrisons, tesco and WH smith are good places to go for 3V there seem to be always plenty in stock in these stores.

By the amount of time you have been writing this you could have got 20+ cards from the various outlets. Why do want an alternative, these work fine. If it ain't broke.....as the saying goes.Why 20 ghost accounts, thats 20 bank accounts also, seems like a major headache and one mistake and you could loose several accounts.

Apart from asking in different ways on the forum what other steps have you taken?

Do what we all do.

Venture out to life away from a computer and find them at the retails sites.

3V is solid for use on amazon, why would you want to look for something else?

Two possible reasons..........

users only use the 3v vouchers

OR

do not wish to share info in case it stops working

Go for the 3V card - keep it simple. Need alternatives? Search the forums and the web. Best of luck.

There are alternatives to 3V but you will find them next to the 3V cards themselves and most are not tested hence why they are rarely listed. Feel free to buy a different brand to test but if it dont work then you've just burned an account

I've looked at the other options next to the 3V card but they are all the same price so I don't see a point in trying them

Get your 3v cards from tesco.

Every 2 you buy you'll get 150 club card points. (Worth £1.50 or upto £6 in deals)

Use each one on amazon, decide how much you want to leave on the card in case they do one of the random card checks they like doing, and use the rest for council tax/other bill you'd pay anyway.

Won't actually cost you a penny that way.

have never seen a different visa related prepaid card in any supermarket or boots

I too have had a lot of trouble finding a 3v card. I know every shop that sells them and it took around a month of going out constantly to find a store with the in stock.

You can get the voucher for £11.50 (not £22 as mentioned) and it lasts 3 months. do this and it will both get you back on amazon and motivate you to find a card that works in that 3 moth period.

and that unfortunately is exactly why you can never find a 3v card in tesco and why they are starting to reduce stocks.

firstly what do you mean by amazons random check on cards ?

secondly I thought minimum top up was £20 hence £22 you will be charged for 3v

I don't get you guys, asking for an alternative to 3v and you are just banging on about 3v and the vouchers. What does the word alternative mean ??

I think the forums response is based on confidence - 3V cards (or vouchers) are used by the majority. The card has a good past track record, however there are alternatives. You're looking for any gift card that provides you with the ability to spend in any store (these provide a CC number and associated expiration date).

The usual places you can buy 3V cards have others on the same rack. You strike me as the kind of person who has funds available to test other cards but a good place to try would be Boots - the silver cards work well and are just one of many alternatives you can try.

Amazon does random test charges on cards - from 5-10 quids depending on activity...activity like: withdrawing to bank, listing an item, even sending an inquiry...examples.

have never seen other cards at boots with visa sign on it. what is the silver card ? when I search on the net most available cards are in usa and not uk

Most of the cards are all by the same issuer, just branded differently.

For those struggling for 3v, if you ask in tesco what day the gift card rep refills the shelves they should tell you.

Normally refill every fortnight.

Really?? I dont get you. the question you first asked was

So the answer to that is a 3v card. What is an alternative to a 3v card? the answer is a 3v voucher. Are there other cards out there, sure there are but since the vast majority of people here get buy using one of those what do you expect? I mean god forbid you ever used the search function in the forum.

The minimum for a voucher is £10, with I think a £1.50 charge. Your question has been answered numerous times. Have the grace to be tahnkful or ask better questions.

I bought some 3v cards today, I could only find them in Boots and Tesco and ONLY in a value of £25.
They don't have a micro chip reader (Like a credit card), nor do they have the Visa sign, Although the paper card they were attached to DOES have the Visa sign.

Have I purchased the correct ones ??
