advice

problem with partitioning drives, xp professional.
I have partitioned my laptop drive 13 times. But when asked to choose which partition to access only have 10 showing 3 are not. I can see them in my computer but on start up 3 do not show up any clues??

Re: advice

Sounds like a limitation in the OS to 10 partitions per disk max. You should look at the specs for your OS.

Re: advice

why did you split 13 partitions on a hard drive? it's not smart to do that. instead, you can run 13 VMware for each separate account.

Re: advice

It is not a smart or not. People have a different way to do their stuff and that suite them well.

OP, I forget how I did it but I have done it before. But I have many partition and name each partition after a stealth name. Modified the boot.ini file to boot from any partition that I want to. Once I restart the PC it boot direct to the right account for me

I will investogate into your problem but take in consideration Vmware or Virtalbox. Eady and fast-switching way to do the same thing.

Agree with that. I move from that to VMware also. Both have pros and cons depend how you want to set it up

Lot of informative posts on VMware on the forum - virtualbox takes a greater understanding:

Easy on the judgement - sure I learned about it recently - nothing wrong with that - I NEVER said I am a master on it...yet

Stop this cr*p.

You always bleat judgement when people comment.

Yet you are the one making the judgements.

Put this down on your never-ending list of experiments and come back when you actually KNOW something.

I didn't pretend at all - and that's where the judging comes in - just straight up link.

Try VMware. It's free, easy and you can more your virtual os from one machine to another.

This does not really involve you. I did not want to get involved again but Rsot does this kind of thing all of the time and it does annoy a lot of people.

I will often come on to find Rsot has replied to 10 posts in a row. yes that would be great if they were helping but most of the time it is either a repeat of what someone has already said in the thread, something completely wrong where they have missed the point or an inaccurate judgement.

Many times I find my comments have been completely contradicted by Rsot's terrible info and that really is frustrating. I dont like to call it out in public but sometimes there is no other way.

Just on this thread Greeny may seem a bit harsh, but in the bigger picture I completely agree.

barrycruan 10-28-2013 08:52 AM

Re: advice

but anyway back to the thread.

RIppedoffagain are you not going to at least try and open an account with a unique IP first?

If you are just going to partition your laptop and start again using the same Ip method I really do think you will have the same problems. From what I know and what I have experienced I would say its much much more likely to be helped by changing your IP than anything that will be resolved from partitioning drives
