Amazon requesting Government Issued ID or passport?

Couple Weeks ago I've received an flag or warning on security precaution. stating I would have to send Amazon Seller Performance team a copy of my government issued Id or passport thru a fax in 48 hours

I chose not to do so, and waited, and now my account (seller AND regular) is 'on hold' with absolutely no responses from amazon, except ONE follow up email sent 2 days later after my first complaint with CS help chat went thru, that explains none of my inquiries such as why amazon demanding such informations and how I do not want to share such informations but just simply repeatedly stating in order to appeal, I would have to provide those informations and email address.

I've done some researches, and it seem like there was only one other case in amazon UK in september where the user was asked to send them a copy of such id and passport.

I only made single sale in seller account which is FAR under $750.

I'm not much of seller, so I tried terminating the account thru speaking with cs chat but he just said they do not have authority to do so when account in under hold.

Please concentrate on if anybody ever heard or received such request of "faxing government issued id" part as I am wondering why there was like almost NONE of other reports of such request.

thank you

The bottom line is Amazon is suspicious of your account and are now asking for identity verification. Government issued ID or passports are pretty much the standard as they are much easier for Amazon to verify and much harder for you to phake.

Did you use a VPN or a VPS for this account?

the moment u don't want to give that info over its suspicious. Its not like their asking for you SSN or anything, you can easily block out your ID number its thats what you are scared of

They probably just want to make sure you are who you claim to be. the info from your account needs to match your ID. Thats probably all they are looking for to get your account off hold
