Main reason for account closures can be attributed to user error. :)

This is a very generic question with many possibilities.

Main reason: You did something that they did not like.

Here are just a few reasons that an account may be closed:
  • Linked to a previously banned account.
  • Slow shipping.
  • Being rude to customers.
  • Slow to answer customer emails.
  • Being rude to Amazon employees.
  • Selling counterfeits.
  • SUSPECTED of selling counterfeits.
  • Shoddy products.

And those are just the LEGITIMATE reasons an account may be closed. There are many, MANY others as well. Competitors reporting you for various violations is another big one. Not following Amazon's rules regarding listing items is another. Tripping one of their "risk algorithms". Amazon being unable to verify your identity, etc.

One of my first accounts was banned for logging on through a VPN. I wasn't trying to hide anything, I was using the VPN for something else I was doing and forgot to turn it off. But Amazon saw the different IP address, thought I was hiding something and my account was GONE! I had NO complaints on the account and no issues. Just that ONE little mistake.
