New account velocity?

Hey guys!

While learning the ropes of eBay stealth, I decided to take my first try with Amazon selling.

3 days ago I joined, and I put up a few items a day. I have 13 listings now.

Some are under existing ASIN numbers, and some are under new UPC codes.

I didn't really expect much off the bat, but now I've had 3 straight days of $300 in sales. (12 items sold)

I only just now read about "velocity limits", and saw someone mention that you shouldn't go over $750 in your first month.

Since I'm over that in a few days, what should I expect?

Should I temporarily end all my listings?

Not sure what to do.

Thanks!

Re: New account velocity?

There is no real number for the velocity limit. It all depend on the category and item that you sale. Some is no review and other will be review with just 1 item sold.

$300/day for 3 days seem little to fast. If you don't hit the review now then you may hit it when close to the day that you get paid.

Just doing your part. You sold it, you ship it. Tracking number is a must. Signature or Insurance would be nice :)

Don't end you listing, just slow it down by rise the price up.

Thanks Tony!

Raising the prices is a good idea.

I'm of course shipping all items, and uploading tracking.

Do all accounts get hit with the review sooner or later? And how hard is it to pass it?

Account is a Professional account ($39.95/mon) under my real name and SSN. (No business or EIN attached)

So what is the issue? I never quite understand why people get upset over a review if all info is real or even a stealth that is not shady in any way and a SS or EIN is used. All accounts will get reviewed at some point unless you simply do not sell. My personal approach is to sell as much as possible at all times and make as much money as possible but I dont mind talking to ebay and Amazon even under a different name or verifying info etc... No reason for a guilty conscious unless you feel you are doing something wrong IMO.

Yes, it will. Just keep all your metric green and you should be fine

Yeah, it's just that I was doing everything legit on my real eBay account too (100% feedback, 5.0 DSRs), and sent in real invoices when they requested them, and ended up suspended.

So reviews worry me, because it seems like no matter what there is a good chance you don't come out of them alive.

Or is my first experience just making me too paranoid?

Matt, in any event a new account the funds are held for 21 days by amazon.com, so you will get no cash into your bank for around 30 days in any event. Just push your customers to leave feedback and keep your metrics green and you should be fine.

Always a risk these days, but I doubt the actual reason was invoices, etc...It was just a wild goose chase per say.

In my experience is doing nothing with the review. Just let they review it and go slow. You will pass the review in 28 days.

Don't provide the invoice to speed up the review unless they are request them

rsot 02-11-2014 01:52 PM

Also important in the review is WHAT you are selling - no chance of trouble I hope

That's cool - getting good feedback I hope to help with the review?

All new household goods.

New cookware is what has been selling so far.

I also have a few toys and some other miscellaneous household items up.

Re: New account velocity?

Hope so!

Just started selling a few days ago so nobody has received their items yet.

Any tips on getting people to leave feedback?

Re: New account velocity?

Alright so just got the Review email lol:

"Hello from Amazon.

We are conducting a review of your Amazon.com selling account. During the review, a rolling reserve will be applied to funds in your seller account.

The reserve will be equivalent to your gross sales amount for the preceding 14 days. Based on your order volume, the amount of the reserve may change daily.

When your account balance exceeds the reserve amount, funds will be available per your disbursement schedule.

You can view your account balance, estimated payment schedule, and reserve amount on the Payments page in the Reports section of your Seller Central account (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/...t-summary.html).

Account reviews are intended to ensure the timely shipment of orders and compliance with our selling policies. Please continue to fulfill orders and list only items that you are able to ship by the Expected Ship Date.

You can help with the review process by sending us more information about your business. To do so, click the “Appeal” button next to this notice on the Notifications page in the Performance section of your Seller Central account (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/...fications.html).

To learn more about account reviews, search “Velocity Limits and Account Reviews” in Seller Central Help.

We will notify you by e-mail when our account review is complete.

Thank you for selling on Amazon.com.

Best regards,

Merchant Approval Team
http://www.amazon.com"

Is the consensus that I shouldn't bother hitting "Appeal Decision" and provide more information? Just let the 14 days go and run as normal?

TonyAlmeida 02-12-2014 12:36 AM

Re: New account velocity?

The review normal take 28 days. 14 days is the rolling reserve.

You can appeal if you like but I wouldn't. Many people here success the review appeal but not myself. I did appeal the review twice and I got suspended both with in 30 minutes. Sp from that day I never appeal the review again.

If you think you have everything on hand ready. Just do it and report back what happen.

matt20 02-12-2014 12:40 AM

Re: New account velocity?

I'm not too worried about the rolling reserve (although it will hurt if they lock up thousands of dollars for 90 days)

I just want to do whatever gives me the best odds of surviving. So if that means to wait it out, that's what I'll do.

Would raising my prices to limit sales until there's a decision look fishy at this point?

I do not understand your concern? How is sales going to hurt your review?

It's not necessarily that I think sales will hurt.

But if I keep at the current pace and Amazon pulls an eBay, then I'll have over $10,000 stuck for 90 days.

Basically trying to maximize my chance of surviving (I still don't think I'm doing anything wrong) while possibly minimizing the risk.

All accounts get reviewed. You seem paranoid. If you don't want a review, don't sell?

Why would you not survive?

More rhetorical than an actual question. I never have had any issues with any reviews. The only sucky thing about amazon is they hold the funds a bit longer.

Re: New account velocity?

once you're in a review there is nothing you can do. you sold too much too fast, but as long as your account looks legit and you are selling items amazon approves of, then you have nothing to worry about

matt20 02-12-2014 08:47 PM

Re: New account velocity?

Well just made another sale (cookware set), so guess I'll just stick with it and see what happens.

All trackings (besides this new one) are uploadied.

Do orders always go to "Pending" for a long time when you're in a review?

TonyAlmeida 02-12-2014 09:03 PM

Re: New account velocity?

Yes, it does sometime

So my orders are starting to be delivered to customers now.

Is there some way to gently try to get them to leave feedback on a mass scale?

Or is the only way to do it by sending messages one by one through Amazon's Contact Buyer link in the Manage Orders?

You send gentle reminders along with a thank you note in your package

I have found this to be the best method, especially when shipping same/next day.

Re: New account velocity?

as long as you have feedback to back it up it wont be an issue, but start slow

matt20 02-20-2014 10:00 AM

Re: New account velocity?

Thanks guys!

10 days into the (supposedly) 30 day review.

About $2000 in sales (23 orders)

All metrics are green, Seller Rating is 100%, and no late shipments or anything like that.

No feedback though, even after the gentle reminders.

And of course took the forum's advice and didn't submit the appeal.

Hoping that's good enough so far to end up on the right side of the review.

Time go by very fast. 28 days is near and you should be OK

Re: New account velocity?

velocity limit no such thing in my book force feedback 3 and sold 2k in my first month always works like a charm .. Now if you sold 1500 and if there high risk item or FOOO highly bootleg item then this wont work .. i always force feedback on my accounts never got banned since and it helps to get sales.

Re: New account velocity?

Here are some FACTS for you.

- Reviews can be triggered at any moment. It could be after $20 in sales, or $400. It all depends on the category, solidity of account information (stealthy stuff), and how long you've been an active seller.

-If your account gets put under a rolling reserve, you will only be able to cash out what you made during the first 14 days in the next 14 days.

-Reviews can last anywhere from a few hours to over a month.

-It doesn't matter how solid your account is, how professional you are, how much feedback you have or that you've made amazon a fortune, if the robots spot something fishy your arse is DELETED.

Re: New account velocity?

have you emailed your buyers asking them for feedback ? it can help especially if you expect your goods to have been delivered already

best wishes

Thanks guys!

Just finished getting an email I wrote out to all the buyers.

Will report back if it draws some feedback.

Can't wait to get rid of that "Newly Launched" label.

Thanks rsot!

Woke up today to a 5 star feedback (from someone who bought my cheapest item)

So 1 out of 25 sales now.

Also today ended my first 14 days, so I should receive whatever is in there now 14 days from now (because of the 14 day rolling reserve)

Re: New account velocity?

Hi I recently joined Amazon with no knowledge of the velocity limit, I sold 2000$ in the first week. Was obviously immediately put under review for exceeding the velocity threshold. Everything is 100%, I legit delivered all of the items quickly whilst under review and have a perfect score and perfect metrics as per amazons system. I'm now 2 weeks into the review, what happens next?
-Thanks

Amazon will NOT suspend you for being successful. What they will do for sure: they will delay the payment to you, to make sure that you will not have charge-backs, returns and too many complaints, because if you do, they can suspend you and you will not return the money. They will make sure everything is smooth and after 60 days your money will be posted to your account. After that you need to keep up honest business and make sure your buyers are satisfied

matt20 05-11-2014 11:29 AM

Re: New account velocity?

Just to update here,

I did indeed pass the review. It lasted exactly 30 days, and then I got an email saying it ended.

I'm right around $20,000 in total sales now, so all has been good.

I'm just hitting my 90th day selling today, so hoping that makes me Buy Box Eligible (and at least be able to show up in the "More Buying Choices" section.

Thanks for all the help guys!

GhostDog 07-30-2014 10:40 AM

Re: New account velocity?

Hey, I'm in a similar position with a brand new Amazon ghost account.

I ended up sending two books to Amazon, to sell via FBA. The items had not even reached the warehouse when I was hit by the review, exactly the same one that matt20 received, except I don't have any sales, therefore no feedback that I can solicit.

I am given the option to appeal in order to expedite the review process, and as far as I can tell this is a completely normal review, and not something indicating that I've been "linked".

When I click on the appeal button, I get the following questions, marked with an * indicating they are required:

* Inventory management
How do you manage your inventory?

* Selling history
What is your selling history outside of Amazon?

Additional information (Optional)
Any other information in support of your appeal?

Is it a good idea to send in an appeal? Does anyone have experience answering these kinds of questions with success? I've seen around the forums that a few people are advising against sending in the appeal, but that seems counter-intuitive to me.

Thanks so much for any help you guys can provide.
