hi all,

i use a laptop with vm ware in it. i run two amazon accounts. one on the main (real amazon acc with real info, opened long time ago) and stealth acc (new)on the vm.

since i am using vmware, i get a new mac address for the vm.

question: since i am using comcast broadband, will amazon detect my router's (lynksys e900) modem's mac address and link these two accounts?


i have checked my modem's mac is same under both the machines (i.e on the main and also on the vm router mac is same)

does it mean my router can get my stealth and real acc linked?

Amazon do not track any MAC addresses at the moment. Plenty of info to be found on the forum about this

Thanks. Are you sure? the version of ghost i have is 2012. and on that it says amazon can track computer's and router's mac address.

it is on page 16 bottom just before the computer set up image.

So in terms of mac address, are you saying i am fine running vm ware on my computer? even though router's mac address is same on the computer and on the vm?

please make sure you have different ip addresses for each account.

Not that i want to change the topic of this thread, checking emails from stealth accounts on my iphone, will it link the accounts? i use gmail for all stealth accounts.

Ensure all images and beacons are disabled in gmail

Amazon ghost was written a long time ago and with the perspective of safety first. It's a great book but the info on mac addresses is not correct.

I do not use vm ware so I'm afraid I can help you on that. But I can tell you that I and several other member of the forum just use one computer with several different windows accounts. One for each amazon stealth account.

Obviously always change the ip for different accounts but that is all that is needed with regards to your router/MAC address.

checking emails is safe as long as you do what JamesNorth101 said, but replying to emails is a different story. some feel its safe and do use gmail to reply to ebay messages, but i wrote about a test i did that reveals the senders ip address. So I say be careful about what ip you use when sending your replies while others will beg to differ.

Though Gmail the senders IP is not revealed, only the Gmail servers IP address can be seen by eBay.

Do you have a link to the test you wrote?

JamesNorth101 is right. Whenever you send an E-Mail you send it to your provider first. He forwards it to the recipients provider (in this case Amazon) who sends it to the customer (maybe on yahoo or even back to Gmail).

Therefore the only one that can see your IP is Google.
But be careful to disable HTML and Pictures in your EMails since your IP can be tracked via Webbacons and 1px images etc. However, I don't think that Amazon uses these techniques.

That is totally different.

That is not replying from the correct email addresses.

You cannot reply to message from a email address that the stealth emails have been forwarded to.

It needs to come from the actual stealth registered email address.

eBay methods and Amazon methods are different.

This is an Amazon thread, try not to get the two confused

I was helping out by replying to OP's third post. He doesn't mention anything about replying in gmail, but i thought it was good to let him know this to try to be as stealth as possible since hes asking about gmail. My test is only to get a basic understanding of what happens when sending emails to parties involved whoever it may be. Guess i took it too far. Ill work on keeping this info to myself next time and just suggest them read stealth book unless its exactly what they are asking for.
