| stanislav | 06-01-2014 03:22 AM | So is Amazon WORTH it? So my question is simple.
Is it really worth selling on Amazon.
I know those who are successful among you will probably try to deter me from trying or ignore me altogether. I am personally very skeptical about selling on Amazon. I am not sure why but I have always had this feeling about Amazon. Am I missing something? I hear a lot of online buyers mentioning Amazon more often than eBay. And it seems like Amazon is always on the news. |
| Callidus | 06-01-2014 03:50 AM | re: So is Amazon WORTH it? Brings a different type of buyer to the table, they know what they want and usually will pay more for it.
From what I have heard it depends on what you sell as sometimes ebay can be better or vice versa, it depends. |

| hafeezc | 06-01-2014 05:15 AM | re: So is Amazon WORTH it? I sell on Amazon but books and it is far better than eBay. Its all depend what you are selling. |
| missinglink | 06-01-2014 09:10 AM | re: So is Amazon WORTH it? it ain't for me |

re: So is Amazon WORTH it? the volume ofcourse depends on the type of product you sell.for some products amazon is faster ,for others its ebay. For the categories I sell, amazon provides about 20 to 30 times more volume as compared to ebay |
| eBayMafia | 06-02-2014 01:31 AM | re: So is Amazon WORTH it? I would say 5-7 years ago, Amazon wasn't really that big of a deal. You could sell on eBay and do just fine, or you could sell on just Amazon and do just fine - but most people preferred one, and only sold on one.
Now, I don't think you really can - If you're trying to make some real money, then you are selling on both and chances are right now that you are going to be more impressed with Amazon than you are with eBay. As of now, something I might sell for $14.99 on eBay I will sell maybe 5 times a week. The same item, I can sell for $17.99, 25 times a week. The sales are actually that different for me.
In fact, I'm buying tons of clothing on eBay and reselling it on Amazon using FBA. I might buy a $14 shirt, but I've got 15 of them sold within 14 days for $32.00 |

True, Amz is better than eBay. The size of the disbursements can be huge on Amz without too much worry, but on eBay/PP, no way I would trust them to transfer the amounts I do on Amz.
Also, certain products on eBay are not allowed to be sold. Believe me, I have tried. VERO comes in and takes me down for no reason. All 100% genuine items. But on Amz, the exact same products can be sold for years without any take downs. What is that about?
I believe eBay has insider trading. eBay themselves are selling certain goods exclusively, posing as small / medium sized sellers. Try and sell certain products and they hit you with a VERO take down, close their eyes and don't care. Because they then have total market share and control.
Not like that on Amz. More free to sell. |

Not like that on Amz. More free to sell. | Agreed on the VERO, getting out of hand. Just got an MC999 for items grouped together trying to unload them cause they weren't selling. Had not sold any in 16 months, but just was given the "C" word.
On AZ, we have seen in Canada that AZ actually went to our supplier (verified by our rep) to start selling their line. We had exclusive run of these products until AZ started to sell them at 15% above cost.
Not the 1st story we have heard about this. |

| stanislav | 06-03-2014 01:54 AM | re: So is Amazon WORTH it? I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this thread. I was very skeptical about Amazon but seeing how SOME of you are successful it motivates me to give it a try. Regarding VeRO .... Major brand took down 8 of my listings recently. Some of my listings had over 3000 watchers with over 1000 sold. I contacted them immediately and gave them 48 hours ultimatum before I was contacting my IP lawyer. In my first email I simply asked what was the EXACT reason for removal. Once it was outlined to me I replied with a step by step counter argument which showed that I was completely not at fault and how it was my right to mention their brand as long as my product was compatible with their product. In less than 48 all of my 8 listings were reinstated.
VeRO - 0
Seller - 1 |

Now that I gathered more information and now that I can use my Canadian bank account I can start selling on Amazon.com
I believe Amazon is more popular than eBay these days. I hear people constantly mentioning Amazon and rarely eBay. |
| GreenBean | 06-03-2014 02:14 AM | re: So is Amazon WORTH it? Being scared is acutally practical.
You can start your amazon selling knowing a little more than some did when they took the plunge.
Be aware NOW that amazon take less prisoners than ebay. They are more inflexible with everything they do.
My friend, if amazon want to suspend your account, they will. Please do not think you are exmpt.
Good Luck with this venture.

| stanislav | 06-03-2014 02:54 AM | re: So is Amazon WORTH it? I never said that I was exempted from getting banned from Amazon. I know people get banned from Amazon even when they sell legitimate products. But I will see what I can do. I will need to apply black hate SEO in order to boost some sales. I don't think selling product without SEO will yield much results. |

. | And what did that mean?
Like I said, they will suspend if they want.

| stanislav | 06-03-2014 03:37 AM | re: So is Amazon WORTH it? No I meant that if I was to sell certain VeRO related products I was afraid there were going to suspend me. |

Be aware of this beast before committing to selling on it.

| GreenBean | 06-03-2014 04:53 AM | re: So is Amazon WORTH it? Look, I'm not going to echange posts back and forth....
for the road.....
Be careful of how you try to sell on amazon. It's not as easy or simple as you appear to be thinking.
Good Luck.
