Amazon-eBay linking?

Hello

I was just surprised to see my ebay username on amazon seller forums.

I use ebay almost everyday but I only log in to amazon every once in a while.

Today I was logged to one of my ebay accounts and also decided to log in to my only and long lasting amazon account. Login to amazon is an old e-mail address.

I checked amazon forums and I was shocked to see my ebay username on top like "Welcome, ebay_username".

I'm a semi-regular reader of this forum and other ebay-related stuff and I had never heard of this. Is this new?

I used that amazon e-mail for an old suspended ebay account. Does this mean this ebay account is linked to that old account?

Are amazon and ebay sharing resources? Since when?

Edit:

I clicked on my username and it says:

But I never registered. I just opened amazon forums while I was logged to ebay.

First off, Amazon & eBay are major competitors and wouldn't share anything to one another. It is not possible to link your those 2 accounts together.

The only way I can see this "linking" happening is on your Windows profile on your PC where it was stored in cache memory.

I hope you're right about that.

I had other accounts logged in all with different usernames (including this forum) and amazon forums picked specifically the ebay username.

Like I said, hope you're right.

Alot of these companies have the same 1% elite sitting on their board of directors. If they can share directors they can share your userid.

Your computer share your flash cookies with top sites that are using them.

Here're Top 100 sites. It's pretty easy and well-known who'll mostly use them for all around sites.

These days generally all top sites know from which sites are you coming from, what clicks are you or were doing there, how much time you've been on that particular site and maybe… what was the nickname/username/account name that was being used though the shared cookies, beacons, redirects or so.

My suggestions are: Use Ghostery + AdBlock Plus and always use different browsers (Firefox + Chrome / IE + Safari or whatever) OR different Portable (not default installations that are usually on C:\) versions of your fav. browsers. Then your cookies and flash objects will be in separate folders completely, trackins using Gh will be blocked and many useless stuff will be blocked by AdB.
