Hello all would like to know if first of all you will be asked to upload ID when you want to change an individual account into a pro merchant acccount?

It says you only pay 25 a month plus seller fees , whereas on individual account it states you pay 0.75p + seller fees per item ....... So if you change to a pro account does this mean you save 0.75p per item that you sell ?

As far as I’m aware, individual and Pro accounts are BOTH being asked for I.D. I don’t know if switching accounts would trigger verification. Its a good question.

If you sell over 40 items every month then switching to a pro merchant account will save you money (figures maybe differ slightly if you’re registered for VAT).
The monthly fee is the same for 40 sales or 100 sales but remember you pay subscription on zero sales too. You can cancel subscription (switch back to individual) anytime but nothing will happen till the date your sub money is taken out.

You will NOT be asked for ID if you upgrade your account. However amazon are asking for ID all accounts that are open already, it is only a matter of time before they make the request.

Yes sell 40 plus items a months and you will save money

Hi Micky, are you absolutely sure 100% that Amz are asking for the ID on existing accounts sooner or later?

It's just that all of my existing accounts are not asking for any ID at all and it must have been due by now if they wanted it?

Several of my established accounts have already requested this, and I have sorted them. Still a few ticking away which have not been requested. They give you 60 days to supply the info. Its an EU banking directive so the answer is yes they will ask, but I guess they have millions of accounts and it will take time.

Hello Thanks for the Replies, So I have created my account three weeks ago so obviously whilst this NEW ID thing was in place, and have been selling for three weeks fine, so I'm guessing they wouldn't ask it when I convert to a pro account

YES 100% they will ask b4 long if upgrade to pro account, if stay below the 30/40 items per month as individual, can surely prolong it ;)

So please tell me why will they ask for ID again as he has already supplied all this with the new rules. And if you were only going sell 30-40 items why bother at all.

You will be fine, but your account will get standard reviews. So just keep the metrics in place. Good luck

Makes you wonder if we leave the EU in 2016 if they will bother with this banking directive. It may make account creation easier, but in the neg side we may have to pay more import taxes and maybe even postage when selling to the rest of Europe.
