Professional Seller Account Error?
 

Got all my stealth account stuff ready and I have been trying to make an account all day and there's a "error" when I click on create professional account.

Anyone else having this issue?

Start out as personal account first. You can upgrade to pro later. They ask too many questions for the pro interview and want tax info up front.

On a stealth account I made for a friend, I hit "register as professional" by accident, and I wasn't even able to back out and register as a personal account. It asked TONS of business info and tax info right away. No way to change registration. Amazon support told me to just use a different email address and register a personal account. Unless things have changed, they will NOT require all that info when changing a personal account to a professional one.

You will still have the tax interview to do ovidiu. Best way is setting up a non US entity and then its more straight forward.

Already did it long ago on my own account, Micky. This was for a new account for a friend. What I am saying is that I don't think we can pass muster trying to set up a stealth professional account from the get go, BUT if you register as individual and then upgrade a fully set up individual account to pro, all they do is charge the 39.99 and you're good to go, so it's basically sort of a stealth shortcut.

No idea on this as I have only set up pro accounts, due to amazon charges and volume. However from my understanding once you sold 50 units as a individual you have to do the the tax interview. I cannot see amazon allowing such a blatant loophole, maybe someone can correct me.

Ah sorry I don't think we were on the same page. There is no loophole for the 50 requirement. That one is QUITE strict from what I read on Amazon Support Forums....people were yelling about accounts getting locked & such. The loophole is being able to switch from personal account to pro without the grueling "give us all the info upfront" part, since most people starting a stealth account won't have LLC info ready up front. Nor do I think it's a good idea, since you could very well burn a LLC with a new Amazon account that gets canned for some reason.

Basically, if you start out as Pro seller, they want all tax and company info UP FRONT. If you start as individual but switch to Pro seller the next day, they still only ask for tax when the 50 item limit approaches. So there is a sort of quasi loophole there.

Because Amazon has arbitrarily decided to enforce a lower 50 item limit before tax info is due, it makes it harder for people who would ordinarily wait on the LLC until they absolutely must. But, I repeat again, it is NOT a good idea to open a Amazon account immediately with your LLC info. What if it gets suspended in the first 30 days? You just lost your LLC and whatever it cost, and burned a good address too. Getting suspended for bogus reasons is par for the course for new Amazon accounts, same as MC999 on eBay, especially with the Great Amazon Holiday Purge coming up. No one would put in tax info in PP on the same day they signed up, and Amazon is no different, in my view. I know this sucks from a volume viewpoint, but if you are planning to sell 50 items the first month on Amazon without doing your homework and getting LOTS of good feedback, you are probably a good candidate for being suspended, in their opinion, anyway.

Sorry for going on and rambling, but I must, once more advise, against immediately popping in that LLC info. You, simply put, just can't really control what happens to your Amazon account in the first month or two....the risk isn't worth it. Put that LLC info in once you get some good feedback and have passed a velocity review.

ovidiu, I take your point as a lot of people make mistakes while learning the stealth process. However IMO if you know what you are doing, selling legit goods and especially if you sell FBA you will have no problems selling professional.

Agreed, if you know what you're doing, it's a risk worth taking. But, I don't think the people asking these sorts of questions are pro's like you, which is why I provide this sort of advice. It's a risk one needs to decide if it's worth taking. Plus my personality and approach to these things is that of a slower, cautious, person, which is why you won't see me boasting of my 100 all operational stealth ebay accounts like some professional jugglers on here lol!
